I feel a Victory V coming on. Bolton in Poulton as Bruce sucks on a Fisherman's Friend.

Never made even a dent of an impact and he's out of contract in June.Riviman wrote:http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... loan_deal/?

Wait a minute ... why are we sending Feeney out on loan?

Presumably to save his considerably larger than we thought salary. We're relegated, stick Silva or Walker in his place till the end of the season.Jugs wrote:Wait a minute ... why are we sending Feeney out on loan?

As much as Feeney is maligned, (once you get past the "it's popular to have someone to call shit brigade") he's actually been one of our better and more consistent players this season.

Don't disagree, but if you're writing off staying up as I have, then save what you can as it might help a bit for summer rebuilding.Worthy4England wrote:As much as Feeney is maligned, (once you get past the "it's popular to have someone to call shit brigade") he's actually been one of our better and more consistent players this season.

This is what is happening. We have to massively reduce the wage bill for next season. Remaining games are meaningless apart from potentially giving a few youngsters some experience.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Don't disagree, but if you're writing off staying up as I have, then save what you can as it might help a bit for summer rebuilding.Worthy4England wrote:As much as Feeney is maligned, (once you get past the "it's popular to have someone to call shit brigade") he's actually been one of our better and more consistent players this season.

Aye, I'm fine with it coz I wrote season off back in Sept/October. We need to clear the decks, as far as possible, but let's just call it what it is - setting up for next season...I reckon most important signing we're going to make will be Manager, which I reckon is nailed on to be Brown if we could agree compo. Some we'll have to keep because of Contracts, but there's surely only one or two we'd be desperate to keep (thinking only Clough and Wilson)...Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Don't disagree, but if you're writing off staying up as I have, then save what you can as it might help a bit for summer rebuilding.Worthy4England wrote:As much as Feeney is maligned, (once you get past the "it's popular to have someone to call shit brigade") he's actually been one of our better and more consistent players this season.

If we're giving up - and I can see the logic - we might seek loan takers for Wheater and Davies while we're at it. And Spearing, obvz.

Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
Wheater is due back this week (according to Iles), happy if he went out on loan and Mavies has done the square root of feck all for a while so if we have any takers I'd snap their hands offDave Sutton's barnet wrote:If we're giving up - and I can see the logic - we might seek loan takers for Wheater and Davies while we're at it. Pfffft.
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
Said it at the weekend about the Spearing business, maybe this is all an astute cost cutting excercise, the first steps to prepare for next season.
Or maybe it's because Sport Shield are absolutely skint.
Better hope its the former, because without some form of investment this summer (namely, at least one centre forward) we'll go down again.

Cheapest thing would have been keeping Lennon.Tombwfc wrote:Said it at the weekend about the Spearing business, maybe this is all an astute cost cutting excercise, the first steps to prepare for next season.

League one your wage bill can only be to a maximum of 60% of your turnover. So I suspect given our turnover is likely to be around the £6M mark, that shows how far we need to scale back. Haven't seen the half of it yet. Need to get wags to under £4M roughly.....from where we are now at a reported 15M. Lot of cuts that.
Whether SS are loaded or not, I don't think matters all that much right now. We need to get the right manager in place and build around young players with a few very cheap and astute additions.
That is the order of the day.
