Aye, it's like bringing up kids. When you give 'em a lollipop "You're the best daddy in the whole wide world" and when you have to stop giving 'em lollipops

BWFC-I's Cleveland Steamer buddy, Nixon, has just twatted this - Bolton. Jay Spearing due 400k at end of contract. Can't see him leaving before then ... without a huge pay off. Don't blame him.
Who the 4ucking hell negotiated Spearing's deal and how the 4ucking hell fire did they ever get into a position in which they were called upon to negotiate player contracts?

Hmmm. It probably was just a deferral of his wages. He probably wanted "x" a week and a deal was done to pay him the difference at the end.throwawayboltonian wrote:Jesus if true that's disgraceful. What was it, £1m, £1.5m up front? Plus this £100k we apparently owe Liverpool if he makes another appearance, and supposedly another £400k at the end of his contract (seems high for a loyalty payment?). That's insane. I mean I think he's a decent midfielder for this level who's been utterly wasted here, but that's a stupendous price tag.Bruce Rioja wrote:BWFC-I's Cleveland Steamer buddy, Nixon, has just twatted this - Bolton. I'm not sure in itself it is scandalous. Eddie approved the Spearing deal. I remember a thing being made about that at the time. He was still backing the club (though approving transfers) at that stage. Signing a premiership midfield player wasn't going to be cheap. If we'd signed him having known Eddie was offski that would have been different.

I'd also heard Spearing initially got an extra £3500 every time he played as part of his contract but he waived that this year due to the financial difficulties at the club and the fact the club wouldn't have been able to play him.
I really rate Spearing but on the whole the deal to sign him is/was feckin ridiculous

So, just to recap, you have absolutely no idea what Terry Robinson did for the club and your disparaging comments aimed at Eddie Davies and Terry Robinson were, at best, repetitive, unfounded, bollocks.BWFC_Insane wrote:He was brought it to sell players. OK, at my meeting tomorrow I'm going to tell the client that once we've shipped the first 5,000 metres of material the price is going up, and then upon order completion we require a one-off lump sum. It may be the shortest meeting that I've ever had.BWFC_Insane wrote:Hmmm. It probably was just a deferral of his wages. In seriousness, I would think that Gartside was our negotiator, working within parameters set by Eddie, and with the knowledge/approval of Freedman.

Back to depends who "we" and "us" is. Moonshift Investments are not us (the football club that had no money and is run by the Directors and was up before the beak at HMRC's request) - Moonshift Investment needs to be viewed as a bank lender in this context that holds both fixed and qualifying floating charges (my understanding is that Moonshift have qualifying floating charges) that predate 15 Sept 2003 - pre date isn't necessary but helps - against that set of non-paying charlatans Burnden Leisure/BWF&A Co Ltd. They have higher precedence than HMRC and are holders of both fixed and floating charges under a recognised Debenture lodged at Companies House. The process that allows the holder of a floating charge to appoint Administrators was designed as an Out of Court process - if there had been no WUP, then I don't believe it needs to go anywhere near a Court at all.throwawayboltonian wrote:@Worthy: Thanks for the clarifications in your comments - it was my understanding (probably wrongly as it's not my line of work) that we'd have to ask the Court for a break, not sure on the legal term, which would give us chance to file administration paperwork; but the judge had the option of rejecting it if he felt that we were insolvent. It certainly sounded that way from the quotes from attendees.
The only reason it would need to touch the Court is because there was a WUP in progress and the paperwork to stop the WUP needs to be receipt acknowledged (assuming it's filled in legitimately).

Re: The breaking News thread...
Wasn't Robinson brought in not only to try and "sell/get rid of" players (he negotiated the Medo/Casado pay offs apparently) he was also brought in to review the whole football finance sides of the business (according to the official BWFC site and the BEN). So as Enoch states, he appears to have done what was requested (not his fault if players refuse to leave) but none of us knows exactly what he did?Enoch wrote:So, just to recap, you have absolutely no idea what Terry Robinson did for the club and your disparaging comments aimed at Eddie Davies and Terry Robinson were, at best, repetitive, unfounded, bollocks.BWFC_Insane wrote:He was brought it to sell players. Quite. But this is football. We know it is mental. Why? Results from now on this season are irrelevant.Jugs wrote:Just pay the bloody 100k for Spearing!
Spearing ideally will go in the summer. We can't afford his wages.
If he doesn't then we get half the season from him next time out without having the pay the £100K then can re-assess.
But bottom line is, we can't afford him.

Aye, the Preston game did it for me. We're down and that's the end of it. Players such as Spearing, Davies, Wheater, Pratley and Moxey need to take a long, hard look at themselves - they've been a disgrace. And if our future lies in the hands of the likes of Ben Amos then this whole thing's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.

How did we go from those early proclamations of "We could never do a Leeds", "We have relegation clauses in our contracts"Bruce Rioja wrote:Oh absolutely. Football has, for as far back as I can remember, operated on the economics of the madhouse!BWFC_Insane wrote:

Re: The breaking News thread...
I read that he's owed 400k at the end of his contract and isn't exactly in a rush to move on. Pay the money and actually use him if he's not going to budge is my reasoning.throwawayboltonian wrote:What's the point? With the Bristol result I'd say we're nailed on for relegation now (although personally I thought we were done around the New Year), his appearance for or omission from the team will not change that fact. And given his high wages he's unlikely to remain here next season. There's little point in paying this £100k when it won't change a thing, when we could opt not to pay it and keep it for use next season. If we weren't adrift and in decent survival form then I'd be tempted to gamble and pay it in the hopes we stay up. In our current situation we'd be better saving it, and not playing him. It's a pragmatic decision.Jugs wrote:Just pay the bloody 100k for Spearing!
