Re: The breaking News thread...
Iles was reporting what he was told. I think people were playing games and bullshitting him. I'm not going to shoot the messenger. That Nixon guy clearly has his contacts but is an arrogant c*nt who as said above acts like he's always right. Iles has s lot more humility and honesty about his reporting.
Iles is s local journo with limited access but who cares about the club, Nixon a tabloid prick looking for s scoop snd not bothered about putting speculative bollocks out there.
Very unfair on Iles to lump them together.

Not sure I entirely agree. Nixon clearly cares about the club. He's definitely a bit arrogant but I think the fact he predominantly covers North West clubs and has done for a long time suggests he's got some empathy with the areas and the clubs within it.LeverEnd wrote:Iles was reporting what he was told. Or maybe the shit reporters get the shit gigs and have to cover the shit little teams just outside of M and L postcodes, which nobody else wants to doBWFC_Insane wrote:Not sure I entirely agree. Quite - yet quite a lot of this was presented as verbatim "FACT" "ITK"...I'll probably post it on a separate thread for anyone that is bored enough to go look at it...BWFC_Insane wrote:Harder to know the ins and outs of a takeover. But also things change. And people within the club were also putting out radically different stories.Worthy4England wrote:I could post up a page of Nixon and Iles stuff about the takeover and asset sales, they were nowhere near on...I might lob it on an inconsequential thread for shits n giggles. Not very close to knowing everything, when weighed against what actually transpired.Tombwfc wrote:It is possible to be somewhere in between knowing feck all and knowing everything. Nixon (and Iles) are closer to the latter when it comes to BWFC than any of us, and for that they are worth listening to.
The problem is Nixon spoils it for himself by the fact that if he's incapable of just saying he doesn't know something, which means opining with a degree of certainty on things he couldn't possibly have the faintest idea of.
Think they're both a bit closer on transfer gossip...
Iles was I think pretty spot on during the process. Not every detail correct but he broadly got it right. Nixon, less so.

Right, but for example when Iles first printed about 48 hours before a takeover needed to be done or there would be administration, he was told that by one of the directors. And some people inside the club, staff, were warned by their managers that admin was 2 days away.Worthy4England wrote:

Clearly administration was threatened by people running the club several times. But initially Iles had to report that as I assume he had no reason to disbelieve it. Suspect that it was either misinformation deliberately fed to him or a rouse to try and flush buyers out.

Their response would be "we offered you the chance to give your side of the story and had no response from you".Worthy4England wrote:Our Club President - I assume the BN will respond in kind to the accusation of wrong information and downright lies...

Re: The breaking News thread...
I think they have to go a bit further than that...That wouldn't of course answer the accusation of lies - it might well go someway to answer "wrong information"..BWFC_Insane wrote:Their response would be "we offered you the chance to give your side of the story and had no response from you".Worthy4England wrote:Our Club President - I assume the BN will respond in kind to the accusation of wrong information and downright lies...

Also this from ED.
One horse race, only Sports Shield put the money down.
Which is why of course, ED was on Sky Sports News on the Friday evening before the February court appearance (where the deal with SS was signed) stating that it was a four horse race with the preferred bidder status to be granted "next week".....

and why Nixon was saying (all along) that SS was not a serious bid, all a lot of hot air and (indeed) a "no-go"!

Oh, Nixon was well off over the takeover. Though ultimately his view they had no real money may turn out correct.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... orse_race/

Bolton News called it though. Especially Iles and his view that Tamraz was all hot air!

Bottom line then? ; quite a few/lot saw it as a fire sale and thought it could be picked up debt-free for nothing. What vendors tend to call sight-seers and time-wasters....

I think in the overall analysis it is quite amazing that anyone bought us at all, considering the mess we were/are in.TANGODANCER wrote:Bottom line then? ; quite a few/lot saw it as a fire sale and thought it could be picked up debt-free for nothing. Re: The breaking News thread...
hang on... I thought his view was that ED was stalling on a whim despite them having put all the money down on the table and ticked every box asked of them??? If they haven't got any money - then surely it was right for ED to take his time, no??BWFC_Insane wrote:Oh, Nixon was well off over the takeover. They did and have produced the money necessary to run the club this season and next. Nobody else could even do that.thebish wrote: hang on... So they were the best (only) option. The stalling has only made our ultimate position worse or at the very least not improved it. Financially or football wise.
