Wasn't Townley's originally part of the Workhouse?

Yes, Monty. Part of the actual building still stands and is incorporated into the now Royal Bolton Hospital.

I was always told that it was Monty, the story being that one part of it then became an 'asylum' which was shut at the outbreak of war to accommodate the return of injured troops. Apparently, the residents at that time were just discharged into the community, this being one theory why Farnworth has more than its fair share of the mentally ill. After the war, that part of the hospital became various things and last time I was there, it was the women's refuge for the area.

He's always got the option to tell his gaffer to do his own dirty work. I suspect Hunt is all for it, otherwise he'd be resigning on principle or summat.

Daughter bitten by red-back spider. Number two granddaughter, daughter-in-law, son, wife - all came down with some sort of debilitating 'gastro' infection. It's been a fun week.
Our new car is due to be delivered tomorrow, so something will no doubt go wrong there too. Me? A pessimist? Give over.

Can be severe I believe. I'm told the quickest way to clear a room of Australians is to yell "Red-back on the dunny seat!"

In hillbilly country I believe they had four-seaters but I know nothing about Australian customs.

Effects of a red-back bite? Pain, pain and more pain plus hot and cold flushes and an over all feeling of being well and truly ill. I can't though remember hearing of any person dying from such a bite. As far as the genealogy of the dreaded lurgi goes, it appears to be granddaughter's maternal grandmother > granddaughter > mother > father > paternal grandmother.

I started this typing yesterday but had to stop when the car arrived. All went well. I spent the rest of the day finding my way about all the multitude of infernal warning/confirmation lights and beeps - most of which change colours to indicate different things - and familiarising my grey matter with where everything is in the cockpit. Perhaps this afternoon I shall get around to taking it for a spin. No doubt I'll find that there's something hiding somewhere that'll become the bugbear of the future. :)

Just found out who this celebrity, who's issuing non-disclosure writs out left right and centre, is. The one who is in an "open relationship" and has been having a three some involving a great amount of olive oil.

How very disappointing. Terrible let down. I was hoping to be shocked. But I'm Still Standing.

I was rather hoping to learn that Kylie has a penchant for taking one in the pink and one up the stink, but sadly not. Bobo has furnished me with a rather disappointing explanation as to who it is.

How wrong can one be? You have to feel sorry for a family whose 17-year old son was killed in a car smash just before Christmas last, lost his older brother yesterday - to a red-back spider bite. :(

I'm baffled that three people involved in a supposedly private set of bedroom shenannigins can cause a media sensation, involve themselves in a ("costly?) trial, waste countless hours/days/weeks in a "oh yes it is, oh no it isn't" about keeping something secret that seems to be almost internationally known anyway, and have all the English media newspapers just waiting to print this "exclusive" news? More to the point, does anybody reasonably sensible actually care? I'm bloody sure I don't.
