The problem here is fck all to do with taxpayers money, which isn't huge in the scheme of things, it's that you think the information might not represent your view.
indeed. The referendum was in the Tory manifesto - and Cameron quite clearly (and on many occasions) said that his government would enter renegotiations and if he was satisfied with those renegotiations his government would be in favour of staying in the EU.
The idea that the government of the day would NOT express an opinion and seek to persuade the country of a policy that they set out in their manifesto on which they were elected is just ludicrous. The government is the the elected government - their job is to govern - and this is one of the big questions our country faces.
Cameron has allowed cabinet members of his government and MPs to campaign freely in opposition to government policy - not every government would have allowed that... (though, when Corbyn allowed opposition in his own party, their was uproar!)

I'm gonna guess that Farage is "outraged"!
it is - of course - entirely and completely appropriate that the government should take as view on a matter of major national importance - as they have, etirely democratically and properly.
the idea that the government should be neutral on such an issue is utterly preposterous.
I especially like Boris's blusterous outrage... (for someone who hasn't actually SEEN the leaflet)
again - he hasn't actually seen the leaflet!“Given that I think it’s very likely that it will be very biased and hysterical and warning unnecessarily about the risks of leaving the EU, I think it’s a complete waste of money,” he said.
“It’s crazy to use quite so much taxpayers’ money on stuff that is basically intended to scare people and to stampede people in one direction.
(this being the Boris who mis-appropriated the official mayoral Twitter account, set up in May 2008 and managed by the publicly funded Greater London authority, to support his own re-election bid.)
about half of the party of a government that polled 30 odd% of the last election support staying in the EU.
Stretching things a tad saying it is the government view.
Re: The wonderful EU and Migration thread!
I only supported UKIP to get out of the EU.thebish wrote:hmmmm.... when people say we will be on our own - that's cos we'll be on our own - and we still will be regardless of whether every or anyone else chooses to remain together or strike out on their own..
so - yes - we would be on our own for "long" irrespective of what is happening in Holland.
farage - yesterday's man!
(surely mentioning him in a discussion about Brexit is only natural? He is a campaigning figure regularly quoted in the debate, no? I KNOW you hate being reminded of him - your association with him must be embarassing - but - there you go - suck it up!)
Farage was the only person actually to bring a few uncomfortable facts on migration to the table, the ones that liberal, Pinko lefties worked so dammed hard to suppress for years.
Don't mention migration Basil.

It's a great day for British democracy. Hoboh should embrace it, give it a big hug and celebrate that it's untainted by those undemocratic bureaucrats, whilst taking onboard all the key messages our democratically elected government are giving, telling the electorate what's in the best interests of this great nation.

From the pro EU government web site, how the EU helps the UK on the world stage.
(It had nothing mainly to do with the US led sanctions then
)
And that's it.The UK as a leading force in the world
The UK is a strong, independent nation. Our EU membership magnifies the UK’s ability to get its way on the issues we care about.
For example, EU action helped prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons; and the EU is leading the world on tackling climate change.

It's a great day for Germany. Hoboh should embrace it, give it a big hug and celebrate that it's tainted by those undemocratic bureaucrats, whilst ignoring all the key messages our democratically elected government are giving, dictating to the electorate what's in the best interests of the pigs down on the farm.

Did you vote for this lot, because they offered a referendum? I mean, if so, you'd be in that 30-odd% of people that wanted this government....

It does actually seem that many of the problems associated with glorious England actually originate outside of it, does it not? Maybe we should have stayed at home instead of all that gunboat globe-trotting. Ah well, never mind, we still have Boris on a bike....maybe in another seven hundred years of Parliament we'll have sorted it all out.

The out campaign get a leaflet too, so keep your knickers on. There's one for in, one for out, and one for the gov't. It's also costing 34p each, so we'll manage.

One imagines so, but only because that's the position of the democratically elected government. It would have been two for out and one for in if Cameron had not got the concessions he demanded
