More annoyed than "beat yourself up" angry (don't do that anymore) but at the "very annoyed" level with P.C World. Customer Services? What a laugh. I bought a new monitor last Friday chosen and reserved from their website Bolton store.
Picked it up and the sales gave me a receipt and said that would incorporate the advertised three year guarantee. Fair enough, didn't check it till I got home but it was just a straight forward card receipt. Unpacked the monitor, assembled it and (with a little help from son got it up and running fine. I needed his help because there was a C.D of supposed instructions with it but no paperwork or printed guide. Nothing. Now since I'm installing a monitor so have no means of reading the C.D (okay, the wife has a lap top, but they don't know that) how can I view the C.D without a monitor and, since there is no printed instruction, w.t.f would one do???. Next:
The product is guaranteed online (at their webside) for three years, so, since there is no paperwork where is that stated? Wife rang the store this morning at the given number for the store ( which is actually said Customer Services and not actually at the store at all but somewhere on Neverland) to be told the transaction wasn't on their system yet and may take a week to transfer. "Please ring back in a week's time and it should all be cleared and we'll send you some paperwork"????
Okay, the salesgirl left her name and number, but if nothing happens in a week I'll be back down there and get some satisfaction one way or another. Next:
Now get this: "If you are not satisfied with the product you can return it until the end of this month." Fine.
In small pint underneath that " The product can only be returned if the box is in an unopened state"

Never computer stuff from PC World/Currys/Dixons et al. Feckin useless the lot of them. eBuyer/Amazon/Scan et al are a far better bet and you'll likely save some money in the process.

Nice to see what our overseas aid ends up as!Two schools in Helmand that were refurbished using British aid money are now being used as bases for the Afghan army, the Guardian has learned.
In another sign that intensified fighting between the resurgent Taliban and government forces threatens to reverse some of the most significant gains of the past 15 years, the Helmand schools are now occupied by Afghan national army soldiers.
Pupils still attend one of the schools, in Sayedabad, Nad Ali district, which received about £100,000 from the British Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT). Soldiers have built a rudimentary watchtower on the roof and walk heavily armed through the schoolyard.
The other school, in Chahe Anjir, also in Nad Ali, was renovated by the British government for £450,000. It was abandoned six months ago and turned into an outpost for the army.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
not really sure where to post this so stuck it here....
mrs added me as a name driver on her car insurance, no big deal never really drive it, was just in case. when she took out the policy she told them i had 3 points.
in truth i have 9 points, i acquired another 6 that i was never inclined to mention.
anyway the other day i called them up to myself start my own policy on a new vehicle, i declared my 9 points no problem. when they asked if i had any no claims and i explained that i was a named driver on my wifes and (with direct line) named drivers earn no claims, so i had 5 years.
when they went in to check this information they spotted the discrepancy with the convictions.
so to cut a long story short, they have been in touch with her informing her that they have raised her premium with me as a 9 pointer (fair enough) but they are also trying to claim a lump sum for the extra amount backdated to when she started the policy!!? its a fair old few quid and ive hardly ever driven the thing! have we got any case to tell them to GTF??

I doubt you have any case at all... you are supposed to tell insurers when your circumstances change. a further 6pts on your license is such a change... if you neglected to tell them (or your missus did) - then they have you by the danglies...General Mannerheim wrote:not really sure where to post this so stuck it here....

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
No idea. But common sense would suggest they would be fair in backdating it to when you acquired the points. Presumably you acquired them during the policy period? Bit harsh to make you pay the "9 point" tariff for a period when you only had 3 points.General Mannerheim wrote:not really sure where to post this so stuck it here....

You can bet your house on it that had there been a claim it would have been turned down on the basis of not notifying them of the points increase. To expect payment for the period despite there not being a chance of them paying out for that period is a piss take.thebish wrote:I doubt you have any case at all... you are supposed to tell insurers when your circumstances change. a further 6pts on your license is such a change... if you neglected to tell them (or your missus did) - then they have you by the danglies...General Mannerheim wrote:not really sure where to post this so stuck it here....

I prefer the system here where the car is insured rather than the driver.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Not at all. Cars are better priced, though less choice. Insurance is based more around car value than age etc. There is a no claims aspect, but they don't inflate the price by 100s of percent to start with. It seems fairer to me, though given the driving standards here, it's a good job it isn't based on driver ability

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
On my way back to Gardermoen Airport in Oslo yesterday, the road I was on takes you past / looks down onto the tiny island of Utoya. I pulled into the lay-by for a couple of minutes and walked over to the top of the bank from where you can best view at it, and from a position next to a collection of waterlogged Teddy Bears and part-burned candles I took a couple of photo's which I'll post up when I get home. Utoya, for want of a point of reference, is about the same size as the island in the middle of Haweswater, so small that I'm surprised that they even bothered to name it. The island is possibly the most perfect setting I can possibly recall for kids/teenagers activity breaks - boating, climbing, camping, tree slides, swimming and more. It is, of course, absolutely impossible for any of us to truly imagine what happened there on that Friday afternoon in July 2011, but just standing there, and I feel no shame in telling you, that looking at it genuinely brought a tear to my eye. 69 innocent and completely defenceless children died there that afternoon as Anders Breivik stalked them for an hour, picking them off on sight. The island is, by my estimation, 200 metres from the mainland. - He even murdered some of his victims as they swam for their lives - their only possible way of fleeing the island.
I've spent the rest of yesterday and today dwelling on it - sorrow giving way to utter loathing and contempt for Breivk. I get to see so many things as I travel around, usually fantastic, or fascinating things, but I'm not sure that anything else I've seen has affected me quite so much (I am, of course, aware that this was yesterday and is painfully fresh in my mind).
Today I'm angry about.....
And this is by pure co-incidence
This evening I get to my hotel, flick on the BBC World News channel only to be informed that today, Anders Behring Breivik has won his case against the Norwegian Authorities for 'Degrading and Inhuman Treatment'.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36094575" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Actually, "Angry" isn't getting anywhere fecking near it just now.
