I reckon Charles is a likeable bloke in as much as we can know him. He's been involved in no real scandal for the media vultures to feed on and has always conducted himself in a manner befitting a high profile public. As royals go, (and I'm not much of a fan of any of them) Charles seems pretty decent.

I'm not "suggesting" anything, old chap. It was the worst kept secret in society and suprised nobody. From what I can gather most people were happy enough with it after his wife's shenanigans.thebish wrote:well - are you suggesting that having an affair with Camilla wasn't a real scandal??TANGODANCER wrote:How did I know you'd be the objector..thebish wrote:well - apart from having an extra-marital affair and trying to influence govt. on political issues?TANGODANCER wrote:I reckon Charles is a likeable bloke in as much as we can know him. The laws of two states only give service providers the right to refuse said services to LGBT individuals, plus some bathroom issues. Of course those laws are odious and probably will not last - it is costing the states money. Similar arguments go on about the right of a minister to refuse to marry gay couples, which is a more complex issue. However, in the grand scheme of things, it is not a big deal compared to many other social issues in the US. Don't forget, hoboh, in your forward thinking UK homosexuality was a criminal offence until 1967. I was 23 when they changed that and Tango was a bit older.Hoboh wrote:Good grief!

Which is nigh on 50 years ago and will never be reversed. Some societies progress, some regress. They'll be chucking them off tall buildings blindfolded next.Montreal Wanderer wrote:The laws of two states only give service providers the right to refuse said services to LGBT individuals, plus some bathroom issues. How much would you expect to pay? The free mooring charges alone will save a fortune.
I'd sooner shell out the same money on this tbh and save a few bob on home insurance, that'll eat up mooring fees.
Re: General Chit Chat
are you planning a move to devon or summat? If so - give us plenty of warning, eh?

Sorry, you must have misunderstood my question. How much did you expect to pay for the property you originally posted?
I can show you houses in and around Bolton that top that in terms of spec. for the same price and even less. But what does that have to do with THAT property. It's apples and oranges.

Re: General Chit Chat
I was merely pointing out that our acceptance of gender differences is relatively recent (i.e in my lifetime). Canada decriminalized homosexuality in 1969, but partly because in some minds it should be reclassified as a mental illness. The US Supreme Court only struck down state anti-sodomy laws in 2003. For the 80 odd countries in the world where it is still a crime they haven't regressed for it had been a crime for centuries. It still carries the death penalty in Iran, Mauritania, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, and in some provinces of Nigeria and Somalia. There are other states where the statute is on the books but not implemented. Even in England old attitudes die hard when you want a double room in a Cornish B&B - that case is before the European Court of Human Rights. I don't think we have completely gained the moral high ground yet. Our new PM has issued pardons for people convicted in the past of homosexual crimes.Gary the Enfield wrote:Which is nigh on 50 years ago and will never be reversed. Re: General Chit Chat
To be fair GTE, taking into consideration, in my view anyway, the restrictive parking and access to the building, the actual size of the apartments, the fact it's hemmed in by two much larger rather close neighbouring properties and it's one saving grace the river frontage I'd pay no more than 350 thou each so 700 thou in total.Gary the Enfield wrote:Hoboh wrote:http://www.primelocation.com/for-sale/d ... I agree it's apples and oranges but for over a million I'd personally want more space in the property and distance from neighbours, I know that hardly applies in London and certain select places and the age of the buyer but for me I'd have to be a river nut and desperately want it to pay the asking price.
Now this is what I personally, with a few alterations would rate by the river.
