Maybe he's grumpy because he has to put up with you unnecessarily picking holes in every other post he makes, no?

nahh - just a regular and normal disagreement/discussion about who might be player of the year...

tango thinks it has to be feeney - I think Holden... I think POTY should have been here all year/season... that's what the thread is for - to discuss/debate/disagree about who (if anyone) it should be - that's all - nothing to see! 8)

I went for Lawrie Wilson.

Performed the best out on loan and I liked his 'Fck off Lennon' celebration.

Player of the year? Behave!
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Veloso for me.

I guess the problem would be that it'd just be a contest for who'd come second after Madine.

I wondered how many games Holding had started, as some POTY awards only include those who've started half the games (sorry Jay). Turns out he has, just... here's the list of 30 starters we've had this term, in descending order of starts (with subs in brackets).

37 (0) Ben Amos (G)
36 (1) Liam Feeney (M)
33 (0) Dean Moxey (D)
33 (0) Darren Pratley (M)
32 (2) Mark Davies (M)
29 (1) Joshua Vela (M)
24 (0) Rob Holding (D)
23 (2) David Wheater (D)
22 (3) Zach Clough (F)
22 (10) Gary Madine (F)
21 (1) Dorian Dervite (D)
19 (1) Derik (D)
19 (0) Prince (D)
18 (4) Jay Spearing (M)
18 (11) Neil Danns (M)
14 (8) Wellington (F)
11 (15) Emile Heskey (F)
9 (1) Lawrie Wilson (D)
9 (0) Jose Casado (D)
8 (5) Liam Trotter (M)
6 (2) Shola Ameobi (F)
6 (1) Paul Rachubka (G)
5 (3) Max Clayton (F)
5 (10) Kaiyne Woolery (M)
4 (0) Niall Maher (D)
3 (4) Thomas Walker (M)
3 (19) Stephen Dobbie (F)
2 (1) Francesco Pisano (D)
1 (1) Alex Finney (D)
1 (0) Oscar Threlkeld (D)

I think maybe we should vote for Prince now.

Poor lad.

So Feeney has played in as many games as anyone else to date, despite being shipped out. For me, he is very definitely in the running and gets my vote.

More, for now: although that list doesn't show it, he started four cup games to Amos's three. In the remaining three league games Amos will presumably overtake him (all comps) but the only other man who can match him is Moxey, who also started all four cup games but was dropped midweek.

Think it says a lot that there's only one game for which he was available this season that Feeney didn't start: at home to Forest. He came on at half-time.
