I had a look at Oldham games highlights, and yes i understand there players are poor. However i watched 3 games highlights, Southend, Fleetwood, and Crewe, a defensive team, and two relegation based teams. In all of the 3 games, they were dominated and had about one or two highlights. If it wasn't for there exceptional keeper (we should sign, hes 20 i believe) then they'd get battered every game. And if that's a bit hard to understand, go watch our highlights, only difference is they have a keeper who can save shots.

I haven't watched the highlights, but I was at the Southend game. If it appeared Oldham got battered then the editor needs to take a look at himself, that or come clean that he's a Blue.

My dad was Sheridans deputy head at school. :spank:

"The Sheridan lads were as hard as nails, ruled the school and they scared the life out of half the staff room"

The old fella is now in his 80s and has already said that if he gets the job then we will be getting season tickets next season

http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... _Sheridan/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Odds on the former Whites midfielder taking the job tumbled significantly overnight on Sunday – prompting Oldham Athletic to rush out an official statement warning against an approach.

Their reaction appears to be premature, as The Bolton News understands Wanderers co-owners Ken Anderson and Dean Holdsworth are not in agreement on whether the former Republic of Ireland international is the man to take the club forward next season.

In what is rapidly becoming a complex task to appoint a new man to the helm, Anderson has drawn up a shortlist of possible candidates with the help of football consultants, such as Andy Townsend, whose non-paid role was made public last week.
This needs nipping in the bud now, because otherwise there is a danger this becomes farcical.

They may be speculating as papers do. I for one am paying no attention to it.

At this stage it doesn't matter whether it is true or not. The perception is that the owners disagree. This has been reported by the local news, by Kevin Davies on Sky pre-Middlesbrough, and the message is out there. This could potentially put off a manager from joining if they believe that the owners aren't both fully behind them.

The two new owners have both done interviews on the official site and the local media separately. You can read into things they say either way, but the messaging out there is confusing and needs to be presented in a United way.

The longer they leave it where one or the other is separately talking to the local media separately and saying different things (allegedly in terms of managerial shortlists) the worse this will become.

As with everything Nixon and Iles related, it's them that's making it farcical at the moment. Southend said there'd been no approach for Brown, Oldham said there'd been no approach for Sheridan.

What we do know is that Anderson said "as far as he knew" there'd been no applications from Nolan (think he said same for Brown on ITV interview). They'd whittled some shortlist from over 50 applications - with one who'd "walk to the Club" - to "probably" 6 and then to "probably" 3 and they were hoping to finish that interviewing a week last Friday. We've hardly heard a peep out of Deano on the topic of "Manager" for a while...

We also know Anderson said he'd have liked to have completed the process "today" (13 April) but likely to be "end of next week" - Friday 22nd.

If Anderson and Deano were having a spat, I'd rather it now when we're relegated, have nowt to play for and the manager hasn't been appointed, than in August/September. I'd rather we took a little more time to get who the club management team think is the right manager, than rush to get the wrong one that they allegedly can't agree on.

Aye but lets face it, to me it's clear Iles is getting information from Anderson and Deano that is conflicting. I think he's trying to give them the benefit of the doubt right now. Which is fair enough.

But Kevin Davies blabbing it all over Sky with Holloway rolling his eyes next to him hasn't helped.

For me we're in a crucial period. We absolutely need a manager in before pre-season (and the best manager we can get) and the transfer embargo lifted if we have any hope of competing next season.

There needs to be a collective push from everyone at the club and we can't afford weeks of stalling over who to appoint and ending up with Peter Reid and Jimmy by proxy.

Delay is fine IF there is a good reason in terms of waiting it out for the manager you want. But if the delay is because no fckuer is making a decision and there isn't agreement that is a nightmare.

It's very simple. Like bwfci says the message is out there. Could be nipped in the bud by a joint press conference and clear message. Looks like further shambolic bullshit will continue. I have no confidence at all in anyone at the club.

So you are worrying about stuff that might be made up bollocks? Any would be manager sitting in a room with the dynamic duo will make a decision based on whatever he thinks is relevant, not what Kevin Davies or Marc Isles say/write.

I'll happily admit I also find it concerning. It's just an overall impression from the place. Not just taking everything the journos said as read. Entirely unconvinced by the whole setup.

I'm probably less worried than you, but from what I've seen and heard I'd be surprised if the reporting is inaccurate. Just has the whiff of initial teething problems.

This summer is so important though they simply can't afford to mess around. We need things in place and plans made. For the past few years it feels like we've gone into the summer unprepared and come out of it poorly. We need a manager and board making plans for who they want to sign, who they want to retain etc....sooner rather than later in my view. Otherwise we're trying to play catch up from a position where we were already behind as it was.

I honestly can't see what the issue is, no one knows what's happening with KA & DH, perhaps they have agreed on a new manager and are in negotiation, perhaps they are down to the final two and are interviewing together, perhaps they are also working on getting the transfer embargo lifted at the same time - I honestly don't why some are flapping because there's no announcement this week.

Kevin Davies was shit stirring on TV the other week, he said that he'd heard that there was a disagreement on the choice of manager by KA & DH, he'd probably got his information from Iles or the forums etc - he never said that he'd actually spoken to KA or DH, why can't we afford to wait another few weeks until the season ends - of course we need a manager in before pre season, I would say we actually need someone in the next 2-3 weeks to start planning for next season as early as possible - but opinions appear to be being made on the strength of Iles & Nixon, and no one knows whether anything they are 'tweeting' is factual.

Why was he shit-stirring if he was just passing on something he heard on the subject? Obviously the interviewer asked for a comment.

Neil Warnock still has a couple of games to play at Rotherham. Have a bit of patience

I'd expect any person being considered for the role would have a question starting "... and this embargo ..." pretty much to the fore. Until that gets sorted how can anyone take the gig ?

He was on R5Live last night saying Mrs Warnock had agreed to let him manage them for next season, too.

Without looking through the 41 pages of speculation, has anybody mentioned Gary Monk, he has experience did relatively well at Swansea brought youth players through and is currently out of work. Whether he would come here with very limited resources and a transfer embargo! I think he would be a good fit for us at this moment in time
