Who's the applicant who said he'd "walk it" to the stadium, that's what I want to know? My money's on Dowie - he only lives on CNR.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Sounds like the sort of thing John Carver might say.Bruce Rioja wrote:Who's the applicant who said he'd "walk it" to the stadium, that's what I want to know? My money's on Dowie - he only lives on CNR.
Does Keith Hill still live in Smithills? Used to when he was a player - kept it while he was playing at Plymouth, too.

He lives on Bradshaw Meadows now. I see him now and again in the Seven Stars. "I'd walk it" isn't quite the same somehow when that means from.Bradshaw.Bruce Rioja wrote:He lives on Bradshaw Meadows now. I see him now and again in the Seven Stars. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Would be happy with Rosler, But if we could get Nolan and he'd do a similar job to what Eddie Howe has done for Bournemouth i'd happily accept Nolan as manager.

Nolan as manager? Absolutely not! He has no managerial experience and the crowd (?) would quickly turn. Nolan as an assistant to gain experience I could accept.palekm08 wrote:Would be happy with Rosler, But if we could get Nolan and he'd do a similar job to what Eddie Howe has done for Bournemouth i'd happily accept Nolan as manager.

In fact he's just been relieved of the role at Orient "to let him concentrate on playing".
I like the lad. He carries his heart on his sleeve. I suspect he could make a manager in time & I doubt it'd be one which would permit the invertebrate performances we've witnessed this season but he's a long way off ready yet.

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
Aye. Not Nolan. And not Reid.
If we are going down the cheap as chips with no experience we might as well stick with Jimmy because at least he knows the young lads we will probably be working with. Not that Id want that to happen just that it would make more sense than importing someone afresh with absolutely no experience.
According to Iles one half of the ownership says a manager announcement will be made next week. The other half days no decision made and no announcement next week.
Good stuff!

Doesn't Nobby manage a pub side in the Scouse Sunday league or summat? Shirley that's all the experience he needs?!

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
Im not saying its first preference. But if eddie howe doesnt give you hope then i dont what will. i'd rather have a manager that knows the club inside and out with moderate success, then having a manager with huge success who could potentially fail at the club. Slaven Bilic, Eddie Howe, Sheridan (for oldham only) for example who have succeeded at clubs they love and know.

Coyle did a sterling job.palekm08 wrote:Im not saying its first preference. As did Sammy Lee.
and this Jimmy Phillips/Peter Reid combo is storming.

How about Big Sam? It can swing either way.
Which other manager are we going to knick.

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
We wouldn't have a chance of Big Sam in the Champ! let alone Lge1
Never get into an argument with an idiot. i'll bring you down to my level and beat you with experience
Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
I think he was just pointing out a manager who did a great job and who knew the club very well.plymouth wanderer wrote:We wouldn't have a chance of Big Sam in the Champ! let alone Lge1
So it CAN work. Doesn't mean that it will though.
Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
You're basing a decision on who should succeed on whether they have previous ties with and emotion for the club. Whilst it's possible to give examples where that's worked it's all the more possible it would not. In my time we've had 3 (that's THREE) outstanding managers; Allardyce (tick), Ian Greaves (nope) & Bruce Roch (nope).
Making that the basis of the decision is lunacy. It's lovely if it works but it's more likely if a guy who can manage players & knows the league he's working in, whatever his origins.

Yeah but it's not just his time at BWFC that makes Nolan an ideal candidate.

I know. How dreadful. Maybe I add Bill Ridding, who had a good start but blew it badly in the end ... or admit to mistyping 3.Bruce Rioja wrote:So, not only can you not spell......bobo the clown wrote:we've had 3 outstanding managers; Allardyce (tick), Ian Greaves (nope) & Bruce Roch (nope).
I'll go for 3 ... & claim I have no idea what you're on about.
