Wiki sez not: £7m for Gaz Cahill the second-highest, then £4.5m for McAteer & Tomo, plus six more at around £4m (name 'em).thebish wrote:fecking chuff-pants!! Other than Anelka, have we EVER sold a player for anything like that much?

It's trickle-down economics!danardif1 wrote:I thought that but then the Premier League is now entering that new massive TV contract so every single club in the league is flush with cash that is already burning a hole in their pocket. It may be the case that any of their targets playing in the Championship or in Europe are even more expensive now that everyone knows how rich the Premier League clubs are and will whack up their valuations in accordance.LeverEnd wrote:And why would anyone bid that to a skint club heading to league 1?BWFC_Insane wrote:As if we'd have turned a bid like that down!LeverEnd wrote:Talksport reporting Everton lining up 2nd bid for holding after initial one of £10m was rejected.![]()
I imagine it's a crock of shit.
Christ, I think we'd probably sell for 2M.

Eidur & Blake yes. Percy was only about £1.5m IIRC, one of the reasons Todd resigned over it - if you're going to sell the best players, at least don't get robbed...thebish wrote: frandsen? eidur? errr... Blake?? errr...
Curcic yes, Nolan yes, Jensen yes. Al-Habsi... I'd forgotten but he was an "Oh yeah, course".
Good knowledge!

we got a stiff packet for al Habsi - not sure if it was 4mill, though...

I'm only going off Wiki but I do remember general delight at beating Dave "Dave Whelan" Whelan up a lot.thebish wrote:we got a stiff packet for al Habsi - not sure if it was 4mill, though...

i wrote that before you wrote the post above it revealing the answers (dunno how that works!) - so as it is now ordered it looks like I was questionning your post - which I wasn't!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'm only going off Wiki but I do remember general delight at beating Dave "Dave Whelan" Whelan up a lot.thebish wrote:we got a stiff packet for al Habsi - not sure if it was 4mill, though...

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
this would certainly (other than maybe, possibly, arguably Nolan?) the first time we've looked like making a serious wedge from our academy! which is a good thing - huzzah!! (though - I'd quite like to keep him, better to get money for him now than see him go to arsenal for free next year...)
Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
I'd love to keep him but if they offered us £10m BWFCi could shut up about the new owners having to prove x, y and z to the league

The deal for any player we sell must include a clause guaranteeing us £100,000 if they play more than half a season's games.

Seems a sensible type, Bobby Holding. Here he is in today's BN:
I look at it as another year of learning. All the awards, all the pats on the back have been great. I am really thankful to people for supporting me. But this is my club and the chance to stay here next season and help it be successful – I couldn’t ask for anything else, really.
[On being scouted by Southgate against Hull] I got interviewed for Sky and I honestly didn’t know. It was just one more person to impress. If it comes to something, of course it would be a massive honour. But I have plenty of time for that sort of thing.
Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
Iles ( Yes Bruce, I know.... ) is linking Holding with Arsenal!

I can't see the 10m figure being accurate but 2-3m (with add ons and sell on clause) for Holding and have him loaned back for next season wouldn't be a bad deal.
