What an atmosphere our fans created in the ground, one of the best of the season, non stop. Quite disappointed with the players reaction ( non reaction ) to the fans, thought they left way too quickly.
I have to say Pratley has to go he is a very poor player and based on his reaction on being subbed doesn't give two hoots for the club or the fans.

Does anyone know how many were there? Looked to be well over the 1,200 expected. Great atmosphere, but as you say, not really matched by the players either during or after the game.

Great to meet a few off here again - brightened up the day. DSB - I left Enoch & Pru tucking in their 10th pints. They were definitely sitting by that point!!

Not seeing the game I had to rely on the Tower commentary. It was micman who claimed we had defended well. We obviously didn't.

I don't think any money brought in will be reinvested in the team, but that's fine.. It's what we have to do now... If he ends up saving the club for another year, then that's his legacy there..

Anyway, this is the match thread, so I might as well post my ratings.

Amos 7 – Some wonderful reaction saves, and he seemed less vulnerable to long-distance shots: the winner was unsaveably top-bin. Still, overpaid so he’s for sale if anyone wants him.
Wilson 5 – Didn’t seem frighteningly pervious but didn’t get offer much going forward, which cripples a formation already surrendering much of the pitch.
Derik 6 – Started alongside Wheater but looked much better after switching back into defensive midfield. Reads the game well, which makes a difference.
Wheater 8 – If only all the senior pros had his honest determination. His earnings are out of our league but he will be missed more than most.
Garratt 6 – Had the occasional bad touch but showed willingness to get forward and link up. Far from the finished article but has promise.
Threlkeld 6 – Started in def-mid (where he excelled for Plymouth), but was dropped further back when Derik struggled. Some poor touches but decent in the air.
Davies 4 – Occasionally tried (two words which might sum up his Bolton career) to link play but he plainly doesn’t fit in this team or formation. Has to go.
Danns 5 – Opposite to Davies (with whom he ineffectually switched): tries but hasn’t got it. Now has neither the quick-burst speed nor the passing range to affect games. Release.
Partly 4 – When writing these ratings I genuinely forgot he played. Confidence shot, he offers nothing bar gormless energy. Has to go.
Clough 5 – Another who doesn’t fit the system; should be played at No.10. He’ll try out wide but he’s not even half the player he could be.
Heskey 4 – About two years past it. Iles notes he has 15 touches in 62 minutes, fewer than the Fulham lad who got subbed on 18 minutes. Release.
Sub: Woolery (62’) 4 – Was never released behind the defence, which seems idiotic. Tried to make runs but wasn’t found.
Sub: Newell (79’) 5 – Like Woolery, struggled to get involved in a poor team surrendering possession. Looks to have a good football brain but I think he needs a partner.
Sub: Dobbie (85’) 5 – Had a couple of runs at the tiring defence. Guess he could be kept on but wouldn’t top my shopping list.

Man of the match: With respect to Big Dave, the fans – by a mile. Constant noise and good humour, even when the Fun Police stewards confiscated inflatables, with support which only briefly abated after about 35 minutes before the alcohol deficiency was alleviated. As good a support and variety of chants as I’ve seen in probably a decade. If we can keep that up, next season might at least be fun on the sidelines, if not the pitch.

But there is a clear and present Darren-danger, with reports expecting him to be around for at least two years. Maybe we'll just have to make somewhere else look like a better target for operations.

He's not an inspirational leader, or a leader of any sort. But it's not his fault that he was selected as captain.

If he's not captain-material, which he clearly isn't, we should not expect captain-like qualities to suddenly materialise, just because he's wearing an armband.

He's not particularly skillful, but has probably covered more blades of grass than anyone else this season. Had others done the same, perhaps we'd be in a better position - probably not though.

Just don't think someone that has likely not asked to be captain, and never shown those qualities, should be blamed for failing to miraculously change his personality, and become a leader overnight.

It was a poor captain choice from the start (on par with Zat Knight being named captain) ... and it's clear he's not had any form of media training, which should be the club's responsibility to arrange - no ?

I hope he's here next season, but not as captain ... and I know I'm the only one to think this, but I don't care.
