Adkins weirds me out. Something not quite right about him. Vastly better than most of the other options I've seen touted though!

I'd be reasonably happy with Adkins....and he would know League 1 well & what's needed to get out of it

Just reading that. 12th in the table, semi-finals of both cups, what exactly is their level of expectation? I'm guessing that he hasn't had piles of cash.

Looks like a bit of a rum do to me.

With the squad they have – Stones, Baines, Coleman, Barry, Barkley, McCarthy, Mirallas, Deulofeu, Lennon, Lukaku – they should do better than they frequently do. He's always been a manager whose teams go on long runs of wins and losses - that's why he had to save Wigan with late winning runs, because they'd gone two months or more without winning - but at a big club that kind of pressure builds.

Short answer: his teams can't defend. Mersey derby, weren't they outshot 37 to 3?

"One of the Greatest English Players Ever." Now that's a direct quote from a manager clutching at fastly diminishing marbles.

You forget Barkley in that list!

Anyway, sod Martinez. I'd be up for Adkins if he was up for us.

Adkins...

(player manager of Bangor City)
2006-2010 Scunthorpe 199 games ppg=1.47
2010-2013 Southampton 124 games ppg=1.82
2013-2014 Reading 80 games ppg=1.33
2015-2016 Sheff Utd 55 games ppg=1.47

automatic promotion this year from div. 1 Wiggin ppg=1.89 / Burton ppg=1.85
lowest placed play-off position - Barnsley ppg=1.6

so... Southampton Adkins would just about get us automatic promotion
any other Adkins would have us missing the playoffs

that's called science and, indeed, FACT!

Some of those PPGs are dragged down by season struggling in a higher league than the one we're gonna be in... IIRC he took Scunny up, down and up again, and took over Reading in the top flight.

He's an absolute fecking chancer. I'd honestly rather have Peter Reid.

Southampton Adkins would have it's back in the Prem in two years. That's science.

Though I think we have to have Alan Pardew for a year first.

Billionaire backer and a superb youth academy drawing on an almost unchallenged 100-mile hinterland wouldn't hurt.

Wow. How about Darren as player-manager?

Said so when he was at Wigan, Martinez is shit. He's still shit. Taken Everton a long time to realise it. He can take his "project" and stuff it up his arse.
