Re: The athletics/running thread
Although I couldn't run yesterday I did manage to get out on the bike. My sister's boyfriend plotted one loop of the IM bike course and wehad beautiful weather. My god theres some hills. Nothing too challenging though apart from Sheephouse Lane and Hunters Hill. Going to try a tentative jog this morning.
9.5 miles out and back from Crown Lane to the Pike and back. That blew the cobwebs off.

It's now been decided that my 50th pr will be at Dalby Forest as I'll be at my uncle's in Scarborough with my niece and nephew. He'll run it too. Coming up to 70 and still knocks out 2 marathons a year.

Blimey. Thats some going for a 70 year old. I harbour hopes of still being able to run at that age. It's the only chance I'll ever have of winning my age category.LeverEnd wrote:It's now been decided that my 50th pr will be at Dalby Forest as I'll be at my uncle's in Scarborough with my niece and nephew. I've got the Coniston trail marathon on Sunday. 5 years since I did it during a horrendous heatwave and swore I'd never do it again. Its supposed to be purely a warm up for the ultra next month but the old ego's already started whispering to me that I could try and beat my previous time

Some warm up! Good luck. I managed 4 miles today and my calves are tighter than the old banjo string. Starting to fitter after recent excesses though.Harry Genshaw wrote:Blimey. I'm still in the same boat tbf. Managed 3k at the weekend before the familiar tightness returned. Need to book in another session with your cousin!

That gets an Ewwww? From you? You're not right in the head.

Got back from Bolton yesterday after a 6 hour drive (thanks M6 you utter Cockwomble). Noticed yesterday that Horwich pool is closed on the weekend for the Horwich Triathlon. Anyone doing it?
I also understand the pool is to be demolished and rebuilt. Anyone know when that's going to happen?

Having seen your latest FB profile pic, i'm surprised that you won't be in attendance, as there is also unlimited sausage on the menu!Harry Genshaw wrote:Bugger. Oh and got a clap for 50 parkruns after I volunteered the information when the nice man asked if there were any pr milestones. Shameless attention seeking.
