Two bacon chops, gratin potatoes and butter beans. Enjoyed.

Idiots use them to blend kale and almond milk with about 50 times more of their 5 a day than they need. A woman my Mrs works with practically lives off one and only eats raw. She rakes twice as much time off sick and is fatter than before she startedthebish wrote:what on earth is that???Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: You'll be getting a nutribullet next.

Bruce Rioja wrote:LK - Have you ever encountered black scabbardfish? Was working in Porto a couple of weeks ago. We asked the hotel receptionist to recommend to us a traditional Portuguese restaurant serving local nosebag, so she did. I was intrigued by this black scabbardfish on the menu so gave it a go, and am so glad I did - delicious. The waiter boned it at the table though (oh errr) and it looked a bit of a bugger to bone.
Had lime pie for pud - that's worth going back for too.
BTW - should any of you find yourself in Porto and looking for this sort of thing in a cozy little place with some excellent service then the place is called Restaurante Abadia do Porto (Or Porto Abbey if you prefer).
I've only ever seen it on Rick Stein when he was in Spain tbh! As he explained it then, it was a deep water fish from out in the Atlantic. I don't think our lot even fish for it. Most of our catch is coming in from North Sea/Irish Sea down to the tip of Cornwall. Obviously theres then the cheap imported (frozen) stuff that you'll get in your large chains, but it's something I try to avoid (I don't for one second believe that cost is an issue, but a skills gap that companies aren't prepared to pay to bridge).
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Any of you ever eaten at The Emporium in Clitheroe? I'm due there this week. Seems a bit of a strange how-do-you-do.
May the bridges I burn light your way

I'm working in Horsham for the next couple of weeks, seems properly, properly posh and there's loads of great looking restaurants to cater for these Tory, horse-owning bastards for me to work my way through.

Finally, the first barbecue of the year! Chicken with lime, garlic and chilli. Cajun belly pork. Lamb steaks with rosemary and olive oil. Home made burgers. Sausages. Home made potato salad. And beer and wine. Plenty of beer and wine!

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
I bought one. Used it twice. It's now in the cupboard under the sink alongside the breville sandwich maker, (used for 2 weeks every day.......5 years ago) and the weird grater/ slicer thing that I cant remember how to work. I'm toying with the idea of buying one of those new air fryers which will no doubt join them after a week of home made chips.thebish wrote:For my birthday yesterday (which the missus sometimes uses as an opportunity to buy stuff that she wants!) - I had a "spiralizer" - which (apparently) is the latest must-have kitchen gadget.
from what I can gather, people mostly use them to make noodles out of things like courgettes and sweet potatoes - so that they can have low-calorie stir-fries and stuff...
has anyone on here got one/used one/found out good to do with one?
it has a bewildering number of attachments with which I imagine you can do all manner of fancy things with fruit and vegetables!
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.

If anyone does end up in Horsham and likes Japanese food go to 'Wabi' and make sure to try the Lobster Tacos. Incredible.

I've no intention of going to Horsham, but lobster tacos sound well fit. I'd make some myself if I had a fecking earthling as to what jicama is.Beefheart wrote:If anyone does end up in Horsham and likes Japanese food go to 'Wabi' and make sure to try the Lobster Tacos. Incredible.

Just had two sausage rolls, three croque potatoes and a nice mixed salad washed down by an ice-cold San Miguel. Very nice..
