Re: What are you playing tonight?
I downloaded 'Steamer to Stanger', Paul Simon's new one at the weekend. Someone recently said they had tickets for his upcoming tour & I was a tad concerned as the stuff I've seen recently appeared to have shown a now old man who's voice had gone and maybe this is one album, one tour too many.
I hoped not as he's a bit of a hero for me.
Well the album isn't 'Graceland' and he does minimise his singing on a number of tracks. But it's overall good. What it most certainly is is superbly crafted, great support from his band and incredibly engineered music. It's typically Simon. Very clever, lots of interesting small side bars and great craftsmanship by the musicians.
So all in all well worth him producing it without it and worth a few bob to have.
I do hope the tour is good now.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Had an ear worm and a memory block at the same time today. Been hearing "Song sung blue" all day without being able to remember it was Neil Diamond that made it. Had to youtube it.

Just rediscovered something else from 30 years ago....
If you listen to it in a dispassionate way, you'd conclude Tim Booth to be 'a bit f*cking mental' with his random screeching. But I like it (perhaps for that? Maybe.).

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Oh, and if you can't be arsed with the album, just fast forward it to about 11.15 and listen to James' finest hour. Shits all over Sit Down. From height.

Well I have to say that ABC nailed it last night at Carfest North. A fantastic hour long set of classics. They were followed by Faithless, who I've never really had much time for, but they were exceptionally good. Kim Wilde on the other hand......

I noticed that Chris Evans' wife bolted 2 minutes before his ex came on stage. There's a lot more of her these days to love, you may or may not be pleased to hear!

Relistening to Channel ORANGE by Frank Ocean and remembering how good it is.
Nero fiddles while Gordon Burns.
Re: What are you playing tonight?
That was me. Need to give it more of a listen but largely agree, better than I'd thought it'd be as I wasn't hugely into the first single from it. A couple of standout tracks.bobo the clown wrote:I downloaded 'Steamer to Stanger', Paul Simon's new one at the weekend. If their music was just half as good as their lyrics they'd be World beaters.KeyserSoze wrote:Bit of Half Man Half Biscuit to see away the afternoon.
