A lot of anecdotal accounts. Many verbal, some physical. The Polish centre in London was graffitied and some Poles have had things like 'go home Polish vermin' posted through doors. It's not just EU migrants though obviously as racists don't really care about that.BWFC_Insane wrote:So, Cameron has in Parliament today apparently condemned a series of "hate crimes against EU migrants in the aftermath of the referendum result". Re: Brexit or Britin
There have been some reports, yes. They don't appear to have been physical attacks etc. as far as I'm aware, but one town received some "Poles go home" notes on their doorsteps. One of his own MP's was told to go home too, over Twitter.BWFC_Insane wrote:So, Cameron has in Parliament today apparently condemned a series of "hate crimes against EU migrants in the aftermath of the referendum result". It's a bit difficult to find the reports amid all the Labour resignations....

My Italian colleague and his Polish wife returned from holiday on Friday to find a photocopied Union Jack with the words "feck off home" scrawled across it shoved through their door.Beefheart wrote:A lot of anecdotal accounts. I've told him that if he finds out who's responsible then he should respond in each of the five languages that he speaks.

Give it 2 weeks and the markets will be roughly back where they were, the pound will still float and all will be well(ish) with the world.
I don't see that the Brexit campaign are rowing back on promises as yet. No one said £350 million would go into the NHS and it's disingenuous to suggest that was the case. I'm sure that in time, the government of the day will invest more cash into the health service. I'm also sure that they will try to secure our borders and negotiate trade deals. I don't happen to think that in the meantime, the UK economy will collapse, millions will lose their jobs and there will be catastrophe.
If a few bankers leave, they leave. Weren't these the people who crashed the economy in 2008 through endless market manipulation and speculation? I thought folk would be cheering the removal trucks off.
The world will still turn, little will change. We will still end up with a London centric government, the regions may be a litte less ignored. I've just been paid and I notice I'm not 38 quid worse off this week. It's a good start.
Patience people, patience.
Hands up all those whose lives will be vastly different as a result of the refendum. Anyone?? Anyone at all?

I notice that pair of spineless, shifty, lying c*nts haven't turned up to the most important PMQ's in decades.
Did I mention they're spineless, shifty, lying c*nts? The pair of spineless, shifty, lying c*nts.

Re: Brexit or Britin
I've come to the conclusion that the current labour party are the biggest set of numpties going. They had a massive opportunity to damage the Tories and instead damaged themselves.
Think back to the financial crisis. They allowed the Tories to lay that on them despite it being a worldwide meltdown and little to do with public finances. They went into the last election effectively acknowledging blame and the Tories have dined out on it ever since. This time around the Tories have made a right dogs dinner of the referendum, resulting in an exit with potentially very serious consequences. The Tories are in disarray and split, so do you...
a) Get out there and repeat the mantra that the Tories caused the exit and mess blah blah blah. Making it stick and whatever the truth of it really is, sow the seed so that you can capitalise in the next elections.
b) Blame your own party leader and tell the world it was effectively Labour's fault for the mess. So when it comes round to election time you ask folk to vote for the party responsible for the financial crisis and the Brexit crisis.

They also find out the current leadership was not fully behind the remain campaign.
Frankly the parliamentary party has a point. Corbyn was elected but the process is so ridiculous that even Bobo was voting for him.
He isn't fit to lead the opposition.

Of course they can't win an election with him at the helm. He's been too busy taking the knives out of his back and chest since day one. They could win an election if they stopped fighting with each other. They had the perfect opportunity with the mess the Tories are in, but decided to make an even bigger mess themselves.BWFC_Insane wrote:They realise that however bad the Tories are, they can win an election with the current leadership.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I've come to the conclusion that the current labour party are the biggest set of numpties going. The Tories could have a convicted murderer at the helm raised retirement age to 95 and increased tax across the board and Labour still wouldn't win an election if Corbyn was leader.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Of course they can't win an election with him at the helm. I feel I should also point out that Corbyn's front garden is an absolute disgrace. Doesn't he know any Poles? They'd have it done in a couple of hours.

Of course you aren't exaggerating and making stuff up. You have no way of knowing what might happen if the Labour mps actually got together and fought the tories rather than themselves. They're an embarrassment.BWFC_Insane wrote:The Tories could have a convicted murderer at the helm raised retirement age to 95 and increased tax across the board and Labour still wouldn't win an election if Corbyn was leader.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Of course they can't win an election with him at the helm. ^I don't disagree, but the embarrassment is from leader down. He needs to go immediately.
Especially after it seems he was trying to hijack the remain campaign for his own ends. Corbyn has zero interest in making Labour a credible and electable party, just in ensuring that his self interested circle of leftie enlitists are served by the party.

It's amazing to me that people seem to think the NHS will be better off after #Brexit.
No-one can tell them they're wrong without being a sore loser.
I hope they're right and they're able to see a doctor quicker and for free in the future.

He couldn't answer the question "do you want to be prime minister?". They didn't even think about asking Nick Clegg that.

I used to import them for a company called Carttronics who sourced them from China. As you say, once they move away from the signal zone the wheels lock.. They were pretty widey used by some of the big ones for a while, until they all reverted to coin operated ones.throwawayboltonian wrote:Doesn't matter where really, still happens down here in OxfordshireWorthy4England wrote: Clearly more upper crust where you are.Round here, you have to put a quid into a release mechanism to get a trolley. Although the main culprits I've seen are older, middle class women in their Chelsea Tractors who park in the car park that is marginally closer to the road than Sainsbury's one is, and they just adandon their trolley off site there. Feel sorry for the trolley wranglers who have to bring them all back in one line whilst dodging traffic.
Although mildly dull fact from a start up I briefly had dealings with a few years back - missing trollies cost supermarkets so much to replace (I think they're about £100-200 per pop?) that some supermarkets have started looking into using GPS on them that automatically locks the wheels as soon as it's moved off site.
He made most of his money by selling the actual signalling equipment with a subscription fee for it
But a quid is a small price to pay for the hours of pissed up fun you can have with a trolley
