He looks like Adam Duritz f*cked Frank Turner.

A rather unexpected lunch in YoSushi. My word, you can do your dough in this place (ok, not my dough but you know what I mean)

Problem is that I want a blast at all of it. My first time in a YoSushi. Do they keep giving you free refills of miso soup in all of them or was that just the one that I was in?

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Not in any way oneupish, but I've just had sushi from a conveyor belt in a Tokyo cafe. With the obligatory miso soup. The sushi was suprisingly poor! The yakatori skewers of green garlic shoots wrapped in pork rib next door however, are possibly the tastiest thing I've ever eaten. So good and so cheap at £1.10 I ordered 6. I feel fat now. .
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.
Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Hang on a mo, hold the front page. Some 12 years or more ago, Peter Kay, in probably his last funny moment, told us that garlic bread was the future. Today I've tasted the future if there's any justice in this cruel world. I've just had a curry, cheese crispy donut. It was so good I swear I heard my left ventricle slam shut as I finished it.
Now that's what Michael Winner used to call " Historic".

I'll let you know how it goes. The food at The French was bob-on, but ultimately you're eating in the reception area of The Midland.

When did you last go to the French? They've changed it now and it is all closed off and self contained. Miles better.Bruce Rioja wrote:To be honest, You're one that I was hoping might have beenBWFC_Insane wrote:Wanted to go a few times but the image has always put me off a bit.Bruce Rioja wrote:Manchester House for the taster menu on Saturday. Manchester house food looks great but all seemed a bit styled and pitched towards footballers and their wags for my liking. Will have to try it one day.

Last did The French in March 2015. It was all velvet ropes and fascia boards. When were you last there? Hopefully it's improved on that front.BWFC_Insane wrote:When did you last go to the French? Went a few months back. They've remodelled it. Has booths now and is closed off from the hotel. It is much better.Bruce Rioja wrote:Last did The French in March 2015. Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Don't rush to do that, mate. Very, very disappointed. It seems, or rather it is, all about the theatre of the place and the fancy presentation of the food rather than flavours thereof (raw peas on a rice cracker anyone?). Most dishes were simply bland. Excellent service but a £50 mandatory service charge? There were two dishes out of 14 that stood out (goats cheese in onion soup with ham, and a squab pigeon dish) as being very good indeed but you could've honestly kept the rest and filed under 'Nowt Spesh'.BWFC_Insane wrote: Manchester house food looks great but all seemed a bit styled and pitched towards footballers and their wags for my liking. I'd been looking forward to this for some time so yeah, very disappoint. Now really really looking forward to the redoubtable EastzEast on Saturday night.

See without having gone and only seen on TV, that was kind of my impression of it. A bit style over substance.Bruce Rioja wrote:Don't rush to do that, mate. Very, very disappointed. Aye, I had been tipped off to a degree. A colleague of mine with whom her and I have identical taste when it comes to 'what we'd like to eat and where to eat it' and that covers bases from the local bakers to Gleneagles, went a few weeks ago. She rang as soon as she'd come out - I was expecting (or perhaps more hoping for) one of her giddiest endorsements of the whole experience but she simply and rather solemnly said "Weeellllll, you'll have to make up your own mind really". I was just hoping that she'd gone on a poor afternoon.
