Isn't there some sort of squad cap at 25, too? In which case we have 23...

Think KA said he wanted a squad of 23/24 plus a few kids. Suppose it depends how many of those in that list are considered squad members or "kids".

Re: Pre Season Friendlies
I don't get the must have pace thing at this level. Anyone with pace at this level is either completely new and unknown or fast with little end product. How many have we had in the last 7-8 seasons that had pace that weren't slagged off weekly for being shit and no end product. It would be nice to have some pace, but lacking it is not half the problem it is if you're at the Premiership level.
I worry about Wheater's fitness record, but we aren't going to do much better whilst in this division and finances (I'm assuming a lot less than 50% of what he was on.

Re: Pre Season Friendlies
Given the market we're in and comments re people like Wilson, Howard, Madine etc ("They've done a job at this level before") then a centre half of Wheater's pedigree is reasonable enough imo. I just hope he's a lot lot cheaper and can stay free from injury

Re: Pre Season Friendlies
I mean if Wheater stays fit and has a decent run I think he's a top half of the championship maybe even lower premiership quality of defender. I remember he had a few decent games for us even in our premiership relegation season.
For me, it isn't that he's a bad player. It is simply that he takes a run of games before he starts to look like a commanding centre half and in recent seasons everytime he's started to look half way there he's got injured again.
I'm just not sure he's going to stay fit long enough to get going, and that is the worry. Because half fit Wheater looks cumbersome and his lack of pace becomes even more apparent.

This is all news to me, but apparently we have a player by the name of Frazer Richardson, only, now we don't.
