Bye bye wigan!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Pretty harsh on a bloke who took them back up, not to give him a lot longer imo.

Pearson or Giggs I can see but Sam? Not a chance

It is harsh, but at the end of the day, things weren't working out for him, his recent pre/post match interviews had a real air of desperation about them, and when you start slagging your own fans off in public, there's no way back unfortunately.

To be honest I'm not bothered if Big Sam doesn't come to us, we don't want another Malky Mackay situation erupting ...I would have Pearson at Wigan in a heartbeat, not sure on Giggsy though, not enough experience for me, he needs to cut his mangerial teeth in Non-League or League 2 first.

Dougie Freedman has been mentioned...

Actually he's bookies favourite for the Wolves job. Now that would be funny.

Lovely place for Giggs to fail.

I think every out of work manager has been mentioned at some point in the last 24 hours

He said something along the lines of...Fans should get frustrated at the result, but don't take it out on the players because I think we're playing well...
This refers to the substitution just after Brighton had scored, He took Grigg off and put Le Fondre on, when we needed 2 upfront to rescue the game.
The boos & jeers weren't aimed at the players, they were aimed at Caldwell for being so bloody negative.
Then to make matters worse, late on in the game he throws Craig Davies on to support Le Fondre (I say support in the loosest possible way, because Davies is bloody useless)

If Giggs did come, he wouldn't be alone.
There's talk of a director of football to come in to help him out.
Either way, can't see that happening, the club won't pay the wages of 2 people when 1 can do the same job.

No worries mate :D
When he gets on he plays really well, he brings a lot of energy & enthusiasm to the team.
Sadly, with Caldwell's 1 upfront philosophy, he hasn't had a full game yet.
He can't play at all against Cardiff on Saturday due to his loan agreement ...Maybe a chance for Kaiyne Woolery to finally stake his claim after banging in 2 for the development squad yesterday.

Not been confirmed by the club as yet, but Mike Pollitt has left the club too, so it looks like a full backroom staff overhaul is underway...

In his playing days we used to call him Captain Calamity
To be honest, he didn't actually make that many mistakes at the back, though the ones he was fault for tended to be monumentally catastrophic :hang:

People used Caldwell as an argument for inexperience sometimes working. But he took Wigan up last season on a massive budget. Far bigger than ours now.

There was no evidence as to how good a manager he was. This season was the test and I think showed he wasn't really up to the challenge.

Is craig davies actually fit? I'd take him any day over Madine if he could stay fit.

We weren't on a massive budget last season, those that stayed on from our Championship team (which wasn't many) had to take a big pay cut.
Our saving grace was we still had our parachute payment from the prem tucked away, hence why we could spend £1m on Yanic Wildschut ...and money very well spent too!

On the subject of Caldwell, you're bang on the money.
Defensively we weren't much better last season than we are now, only difference being, most League 1 strikers are not as prolific in front of goal as they are in the Championship ...Mind you, it always helps when you have someone like Big Jussi between the sticks, he got us out of a few scrapes, I tell thee...

He saved Hull City from going out of the football league in 1998 as Player Manager, and also spent a few years managing Royal Antwerp in Belgium.
Add that to the fact Utd fans are gutted to see him go, I think we've got a good 'un
Just need to get shut of Graham Barrow and his cronies now, and we're sorted :oyea:
