Looks like previous Parky charge Felipe Morais might be joining us
Pfffft.
Re: Hanging on, January Transfer Window thread 2017
Gut feeling is I'd be surprised if clough goes - he turned down a similar move last year and with a good next few months here he'll be back at that level anyway. If we don't go up, there'll still be someone in for him in summer so he could move on then.
If he does go, how does parky arrange our front 6?

He's scored better than 1 in 3 for us. Sure at Chump and Lge 1 levels (21 in 58 league) - but that's the level we're playing at. You can be as dismissive of that as you will but bear in mind that Anelka only bagged 21 in 53 and he was apparently a god.BWFC_Insane wrote:If Clough is half as good as many think, others would be all over that. I know you seem to shun players who score, from your arguments about Madine and other non-scoring forwards - seemingly we can do without them. I await with eagerness the next 3 points we're awarded because Madine has won 90% of his aerial duels.

Like I said before, we can't pay the bills. How are we meant to keep the club going? It's about 500K a month needed. Who is paying that?TANGODANCER wrote:Bad job if Clough goes that cheap. Always the case with clubs like us these days; we get a bit of talent, somebody steps in with a cut price offer and it's back to the drawing board. Like I said elsewhere, two million pounds sound like big money but in football it's pocket change. Pogba's car probably cost more than most of our squad. Ah well, no doubt the wheel will keep turning and who knows...?

Lee Anderson on twitter replying to the question "has a bid been accepted":
"At 19:13 no".

That's the trouble with deadline day.Nicko58 wrote:Lee Anderson is now saying that we haven't yet accepted a bid for Clough, however it sounds very much as if we will.

All I'm saying is that if he's that good, better than Forest will be in at that sort of price. Which would drive the price up. If at that price only Forest are in, it does perhaps suggest others have looked and decided against.Worthy4England wrote:He's scored better than 1 in 3 for us. Which proves what exactly? As for whether he'd go to Forest as they're a basket case, we're hardly a sure thing are we? At least he's likely to get paid on time.

Re: Hanging on, January Transfer Window thread 2017
He's as good as 21 in 58 at Chump/L1 level. He may or may not be a 15 goal a season premiership striker in the future (I don't believe he will, but no matter) - So £2.5m is what we have on the table (or £3.5 or whatever it is). We know we've had other offers prior to this for him. That's no direct indication of how good he is or isn't, that's an indication of what the market thinks it wants to pay for him. Chelsea paid £40m for Torres....he was great for them.BWFC_Insane wrote:All I'm saying is that if he's that good, better than Forest will be in at that sort of price. Which would drive the price up. Quite - All Madine has to do is double his strike rate and we'll be reet. Shouldn't be too much to ask.Tombwfc wrote:Which proves what exactly? Me, our dog Alfie and most of those who live in the parish know this. Bolton as a club know it and yet are constantly dealing in the bazaar for ways to move on. The club has to be paying part of its way via crowds and catering apart from any other varied interests. If its as bad as you say then why are we bothering playing football? Could it be that people still believe in Bolton Wanderers and don't live off doom pills and hemlock? Keep the faith man.BWFC_Insane wrote:Like I said before, we can't pay the bills. Re: Hanging on, January Transfer Window thread 2017
We are half a million a month short. That's what is needed to pay the staff, keep the club afloat. It was earlier this year 800,000. So someone needs to find half a million a month. Otherwise the players aren't paid. That's the bottom line. Ken has been paying it. But he's not a man with huge financial resources as far as we know. He has investment lined up but that can't be sought until the legal issues with Deano are resolved.TANGODANCER wrote:Me, our dog Alfie and most of those who live in the parish know this. So I ask again, where is the half a million a month coming from? That is what is required after incomings. Remember as Ken outlined today we are losing money on our catering. Not Ken's fault. Ticket sales do not anywhere near cover our costs.
The business may have been run badly but that doesn't take away from the money needed on a monthly basis.

If that's the case captain insano. Why haven't we mugged them off and stolen the 2.5 mill? Think old Ken is better placed to make these calls than you are

It seems as though the latest is that he's agreed terms with Forest, but we haven't agreed a price.jimbo wrote:Gut feeling is I'd be surprised if clough goes - he turned down a similar move last year and with a good next few months here he'll be back at that level anyway. Isn't Alf and Sammy both out of Contract at the end of the season? If clough money funded those 2 to stay permanently, although gutting! I'd be fairly happy with that

He'll be funding the wages till the end of this season. Beyond that I suspect we are in for a bumpy ride.plymouth wanderer wrote:Isn't Alf and Sammy both out of Contract at the end of the season? If clough money funded those 2 to stay permanently, although gutting! I'd be fairly happy with that

Seems like a productive window. Shame about Clough but Forest isn't Bristol City.DJBlu wrote:Proctor gone to Carlisle on loan.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
