9-0 on Freeview 24. The Ghost Writer...A Roman Polanski film based on the book The Ghost by Robert Harris. Good film based on a good book with hints of political truths right through it. Seen it before but I'll be giving it another watch tonight.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Bar the ending it truly is based on Tony Blair. Good film and a good book though.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2017 8:03 pm9-0 on Freeview 24. If anybody is temped to watch Sean Penn's latest offering, "The Gunman".....please save yourself a couple of hours and don't bother.

The very mention of the former Mr Madonna immediately puts me off of watching anything.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2017 12:04 amIf anybody is temped to watch Sean Penn's latest offering, "The Gunman".....please save yourself a couple of hours and don't bother.

Lovefilm have sent me High Fidelity. Absolutely loved the book but never seen the film. Looking forward to that tonight.

Did anybody see that The Trial: A Murder in the Family? Was a bit watered down, but still very interesting

Re: What are you watching tonight?
As someone who has zero interest in space shenanigans I was actually completely unaware as to the goings on aboard the Apollo 13 space mission. That was until I recently started listening to the band Public Service Broadcasting. Not only do I find them to be a most excellent band but I've now started looking a little further as to what a few of their songs are about. The song 'Go' led me to Apollo 13.
As such, over the weekend I watched the film about it with Tom Hanks and Kevin Bacon. I'm sure that the makers will have Hollywood-ed it up a bit but what an excellent film about a truly incredible sequence of events.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Two films winging their way to me. Sarah's Keys, which I'm very much looking forward to, and The Producers. I've no idea as to how that one ended up on the list but I'll go with it.

Lovefilm? I'm continually baffled by the films arriving on my doorstep I have no recollection of adding to the list and that if you'd asked me before I open the envelope I would claim to have never heard of!

Exactly the same here. I haven't just added them randomly so I must've either heard or at least read something about them, I just can never remember what or when.

2nd Rugby tests between Argentina and England in South America. 8-15 B.B.C 2. First one was a cracker and Argentina seem a much improved side. If the heat is anything like Bolton today I pity them all.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched the new B.B.C made version of the kids classic Swallows and Amazons from the Arthur Ransom book written back around 1930. Kid's film strictly for kids...so I got my kayli and spanish out and watched it. Childhood memories, Famous Five, Secret Seven and all that....ah, what the hell...

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Rugb was cracking. Ding-dong right through. Launcebury?sp, Robshaw and Hartley all played well as did Mike Brown, Danny Care and Johnny May. Thought Yardy was a bit off the pace a time or two. Highlights were George Ford's drop kick and that Mike Brown grab and run interception that led to a try. Argentina are no duffers ( they gave me the jeebies every time they broke) and it was in the balance much of the game. The Gauchos (Pumas) played a very French style game for me, kept possession well, defended well and were always a danger. Great entertainment.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Don't know if anybody's been watching the RL quarter finals. Some superb Rugby. Really looking forward to Salford v Wigan in the semis. Wigan scraped through by the skin of their teeth against Warrington yesterday. What's more, Salford dicked them at their place a few weeks ago. Should be good.

Finally got round to Trainspotting 2. Was concerned I wouldn't like it but was so wrong. Brilliant.
