Can you have a draw in 1 day (such as in Rain stopped play) ? Not a game I'm entirely familiar with

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
If side 2 hasn't batted at all or no side has batted then it's abandoned (rather than classed as a draw).
Once side 2 has started their innings, I think DLS kicks in (or it used to) after one ball, so from that point, there's always a result.
The sides can still tie (everything is equal at the end of both innings) - I think.
But draw - no.

I think the current ruling is there has to be 20 overs of the second innings to make a game of it via duckworth Lewis. Australia had a no result against Bangladesh despite being miles ahead of them as the rain came 16 overs into the second innings.

Yeah, think I just picked that up from commentary too. Jimbo.

When I started playing again last season it turned out that there are all sorts of thinks that no longer happen. Winning / losing draws being the main one, stuff like injured batters not being allowed a runner any more, different crease markings, all sorts......Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2017 4:07 pmIf side 2 hasn't batted at all or no side has batted then it's abandoned (rather than classed as a draw).

That and every fcuker bowling underarm?
Didn't know there was a law not allowing a runner... There always was if you started the game with an injury...
Remember playing a cup game against Widnes. We played them the week before in the league and their top bat pulled his hamstring so I let them use a runner... Our place, he comes in to bat and third ball asks for a runner... Yeah like that was going to happen. Told 'em to fcuk right off.

So, England win by 40 runs via the D/L method.
It's a shame that the weather didn't hold up for long enough to finish it out on the pitch but I'm perfectly happy to celebrate putting the Aussies to the shield no matter how it's done.

So looks like our "1 collapse every 7 or 8 innings" has come at exactly the wrong time.

Sad to learn that Henry Blofeld's retiring. Both he and Brian Johnston were gifted with quintessential voices for test match radio commentary. Hearing him describe a passage of play was like slipping you feet into your favourite slippers. He'll be missed.

You can forget his commentary on the "Lord's Freaker".

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Tricky test series coming up against South Africa. All of a sudden there's a whole load of selection headaches and precious few outstanding players to come in and big question marks over all the bowlers. There's probably only cook, root, stokes, Bairstow and Ali can be completely confident of selection next week.
Hopefully some new talent can be unearthed before Australia this winter

Oh my word. Can he spell it yet?
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
To be fair to him, he is the absolute standout English batsman this season. No one else comes close. Hopefully he'll be the Ballance from his first 10 tests rather than his last 10. Either way, it has to be his last chance.

Reminds me a bit of Graeme Hick, form wise, better than plenty with county bowling, but never really made that step-up.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Typical stuck on the crease LBW for ballance. Our test team looks really poor at the moment bar Root/Bairstow/Stokes at 4,5,6. The most worrying thing is the lack of standout players to come in which is why bloody Dawson is playing.
