Not angry, just a bit sad. Just read in the B.N that at least two long-standing Catholic Churches are closing down.St Peter and Pauls pretty definitely, and maybe a couple more which might include the scene of my primary schooldays and churchgoing till was maybe sixteen. Okay, I can't complain since I no longer go to church and it isn't being supported enough to make it feasible. Just that I spent many happy hours there long ago at school, youth club and church itself. If I had my time to come again......

And were the accompanying remarks in the 'Comments' section all from 'Apoplectic of Skagen Court', banging on about the currently horrendous outbreak of mosques, despite them owning not a solitary iota of Christianity? That's the norm there, I find.

^ on the comments section of the BN I had a chucklesome 20 minutes the other evening. A bloke who I remember from school (absolute to55er then too) was convicted of date raping a woman a while ago. This week it was in the BN that he'd has sentence reduced. After the usual trolling his educationally challenged brother started posting comments. At the last read he was offering to meet them all in Wetherspoons for a punch up

Just feeling a little frustrated, okay, a bit foolish if you will.

Stepped out from home with the dog this morning. Only gone a very short distance when he barked and, turning round I saw a Beagle type young dog behind us, just a pup really. Tried to order him off (yeah) but he wasn't having any. Followed me down the street and I was a bit worried about him being knocked down. I take a spare lead out going to the paper shop out because our fella has managed to wriggle out of his harness more than once, so luckily I could get it on him (he had a collar but no name) and go back home. Got the wife to let him in the back garden, give him a drink and a biscuit then I took him out and went on a "anybody know this fellow" tour of the streets and roads around. No luck so I went back and the wife phoned the pet sanctuary (or whatver it's called) and they told her they'd get a dog handler to ring. He did and half an hour later showed up, tested the dog for chipping and got it into his vehicle. I left him writing his notes up etc, and set off again with gnasher for the shop. Next news he blows the horn and there's a young woman beside the van. I go back and she's the dogs owner. Great, owner found and everybody happy. I ask the girl/woman where she lives and she informs me she's just moved in...................... to the house opposite ours, thirty feet away...much internal swearing and then I had to laugh. Felt more than a bit of a plonker but the dog handler took it all in good part..

Power cut day today. Everything went off about 3-30 till 4-30, then 6'o'clock till 8-15. Wife rang up and they advised her that all would be well soon, possibly five hours (it was much shorter) but to check the situation online...er, but we have no electricity to do that.......er, hello?...Seems about 600 premises were affected and we were just boiling a pan of water on a trivet with a candle for a brew ( we have no gas being all electric ) when......relax folks, it's all over.....

Off to Argos tomorrow for a primus stove or something....We have a camping light but the lad borrowed that..to go camping..

In fairness to the electric company, when power was restored and the wife charged her mobile up, she found she had a couple of texts, and a phone call on the mains we didn't hear because we were next door at the time. Didn't know this when I wrote, I was too busy trying to make a cure all brew. Ah well, all sorted now.

Private dentistry is expensive. But sort of shows the massive problems of the deal Blair et al put in place for NHS dentists. Basically if you are a dentist, NHS work massively underpays for your time for procedures. It is why most NHS dentists will now only do simple check ups, cleaning and fillings. Anything else often they won't even offer - aside from perhaps a crown fitting.
