I think playing the women's institute would be our top order's only chance of runs at the moment!

Won by 7 wickets. Bairstow gets a century, Stokes ends it with a big six.

Apart from being out late and having a skinful with his mates (how's he doing so far compared to joe average..us..you?) then getting in a bit of a ruckus that kicked off ( still doing okay in the "been there, done that" manual), should he not get a bollocking and (because he's a pro sportsman) a hefty fine?. The media make me utterly sick at times in there desire to get their name on a story (of course, none of them have ever been involved in anything less than angelic) and blowing everyday incidents out of all proportion. Did he go out of his way to cause trouble or a fight, or was he involved because of who and what he is outside of a normal bloke? ( Is this were I hear the bit about setting good examples to others etc?). He did wrong, but make the punishment fit the crime etc. Wasn't there something recently about someone spared jail after stabbing their boyfriend while on drugs and alcohol and getting off with a suspended so it wouldn't interfere with her career?.....or did I imagine that?

Like it or not he does have some professional responsibility as vice captain not to go out and get leathered in the middle of a series.
Like every human being he also has a responsibility not to lose control and start fighting with people.
Genuine question - if he is charged, has he got any chance of getting a visa for Australia?

Get what you're saying. But he was out hammered with a game for England the next day.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2017 2:05 pmApart from being out late and having a skinful with his mates (how's he doing so far compared to joe average..us..you?) then getting in a bit of a ruckus that kicked off ( still doing okay in the "been there, done that" manual), should he not get a bollocking and (because he's a pro sportsman) a hefty fine?. And he threw 15 punches in a minute (so I'm told). It isn't like a minor thing. 15 punches.
Also the point is when you are in the spotlight you have to be extra careful. What he did was stupid beyond belief. I actually have an issue with professional sports people being out in the early hours, hammered days before big matches that they're getting paid a lot for. There is absolutely no way that doesn't have a serious negative effect on their performance.

Tango - I don't know if you've seen the footage since making your post but this is far from "an everyday incident being blown out of all proportion by the press". As much as I admire stokes as a cricketer as a human being the man's a fecking animal, as the footage attests. He absolutely loses the plot.To see him floor a guy who's clearly offering no defence and who seems to be asking him not to hit him is absolutely sickening.
I hope he gets the time his actions deserve. He has no-one to blame for what now becomes of him other than himself.

It also appears today that he was defending two gay guys from two blokes armed with bottles who were offering reprehensible observations and threating to attack them with the bottle.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2017 2:47 pmHaven't seen that, no. So... who appears to be the 'fecking animal' in that scenario?
That's not a leopard!

PS fifteen blows. He decks one. He stops at that point. Hardly egregious.

I've heard this story doing the rounds but have seen nothing to support it. You obviously have something you can share with us.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2017 2:57 pmIt also appears today that he was defending two gay guys from two blokes armed with bottles who were offering reprehensible observations and threating to attack them with the bottle.
