As opposed to Dean Holden, who retains a Stretford End season ticket. https://www.thenational.ae/sport/footba ... n-1.688921

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
For me the issue is, getting new loans in means younger players who haven't played yet much. Who mostly take a while to get up to speed and settle. As KA has said we need players ready to hit the ground running.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 10:57 am
With promising kids, these things are fluid. Between September and January some might prove themselves so obviously beyond U23 football that big clubs want them to get real-men experience, so it's a ring-round of the managers - or rather academy managers, like Parky's mate at West Ham - to see who might be productively thrown into a second-tier battle. If the Hammers want to keep those two on board (which I doubt) or send them elsewhere (more likely IMO, as per Arma/Toon) then we just have to look elsewhere, it's not like they're the only impressive kids in big academies. Had we been in this situation/division last year, we might have borrowed Mason Holgate from Everton or Joe Gomez from Liverpool.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 9:54 amThough there is a risk that West Ham want to keep Burke or Cullen or both and that could leave the squad short with no guarantee we can get equivalent quality in this window. Mind neither were exactly wanted here a week or two back.
Burke and Cullen know the score here.
A new player might take weeks we don't have. Burke and to a greater extent Cullen took a number of months to seemingly reach their potential.

Mr Anderson seems to be confirming this prediction with his latest utterances. Oh well.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 3:40 pmI predict this is going to sparser than any previous Transfer Window by a country mile.

For me, get Cullen and Burke back. Sign a striker and midfield player to replace Pratley. Keep all our key 1st team players.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 1:44 pmMr Anderson seems to be confirming this prediction with his latest utterances. That would be an excellent window. Think that is pretty pie in the sky though.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
To be fair, you would expect this to be a pretty sparse transfer window because in the previous three Parky has signed, according to a quick sum, roughly 17 players on permanent deals (while selling/releasing 26 and borrowing 11 loanees). True, there's up to half a dozen he would probably now want to trade up on, but with Ken standing firm on his squad limit - y'know, the one he kept trying to get lifted last season - PP has to lose players in order to win new ones.
As BWFCi notes, it would be an excellent window if we kept our best players and got two more (physical front-man, physical midfielder) by trading out our fringe men, but we'll see.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
I think ideally we'd have kept Burke and Robinson and sent back Cullen and Armstrong and tried to upgrade. Given the injuries it's probably too big a gamble to lose Cullen too now. We already needed a CM, we defo do now, and any first team player who goes (ideally none) needs replacing. The first XI I think is lower mid-table. The squad is not even nearly Championship.
Ideally we'd have been replacing the not-good enoughs with players to push the first XI. Now at least in midfield we need someone to step in immediately.
Striker is surely going to be a loan (is that what KA meant re wages?). Given how integral Madine is, no "adult" striker is going to want to come here surely (like a shit Spurs) to sit on the bench.
Gonna be a kid for whom bench is better than U23s. That and a cm and keep everyone good.
Thanks.

Think our chances of getting Burke back just took a hit - played well at full back and West Ham lost a centre half to injury.
Less convinced by Cullen though fair play - he got his tooth kicked out and played on. A replay there doesn’t help us - you could see both staying for the cup game at the least.

Both did ok, but they were playing a league one side ultimately. Hopefully we get Burke at the very least though the fact he did well at full back is a little concerning...they might want to keep him as a utility option. He’s not a premier league centre half yet by some way though.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2018 4:00 pmThink our chances of getting Burke back just took a hit - played well at full back and West Ham lost a centre half to injury.

Guardian:
"Moyes later said Cullen was West Ham’s best player on the day, but the Irishman was not around to hear that as he had already left for hospital to see whether the two teeth that he lost in a second-half collision could be reinserted."

Considering Karacan's evidently persona non grata, our big-haired Iberian might yet stick around – and even get game-time. PP, BN:
(PS Diagouraga has been confirmed as a Fleetwood signing)
http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/15 ... Parkinson/I have got a lot of time for Derik, he hasn’t given us a moment’s trouble. He is a good person to have around because he can cover a few different positions.
There are players who haven’t been playing and some of them might be leaving but I don’t think it necessarily means Derik is one of those players because he can comfortably cope with Championship players and showed against a Premier League team there he is a good player, even in a slightly unfamiliar role.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Cardiff want Madine. IF we sell Madine, we're accepting a return to league one. It would be the singularly most depressing transfer this club has ever done. I don't care how much money we get for Gaz, he's simply irreplaceable right now. There is no striker who can score double figures and lead the line ready to step into the championship who we can buy. Not one.
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
I'm not as convinced. It would take a big bid for me, and PP would need to be given cash to spend, but I see a world where it would make sense.
Certainly losing him without backing PP to replace and otherwise strengthen would be effectively throwing the towel in though.

As an aside, I see Bury have loaned James Hanson from Sheffield United. I guess PP might have been scared off ex-Bradford strikers by the Jamie Proctor thing...

Who are we getting to replace him? Name names.Prufrock wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 11:52 amI'm not as convinced. It would take a big bid for me, and PP would need to be given cash to spend, but I see a world where it would make sense.

In the summer, might be a different story.
But to stay up, we need someone to come in and do the same job. Therefore, they have to be a) fit, b) in form c) able to work outside the box and do a lot of work d) get on the end of balls into the box and put them in the net regularly enough.
At this stage its no good replacing him with a reserve who takes 10 games to get up to fitness.
ALF is shite. Sorry, but we might as well play a stump as play him. Wilbraham is worse.
We'd have to buy a very good striker to replace him. We might even be in a bloody embargo.
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
See that Devante Cole is being linked with Rangers on a free in the summer. That sort of cut-price contact running out Jan bid is the sort of transfer we could get value from.
Gotta sell high and buy low.

Be a huge risk in my view. Though I’ve seen numerous championship clubs linked with him. So whether we’d even be in the running...
Whenever I’ve seen him he’s never impressed me.

Aye, fair enough. But I meant more reflective of the overall situation and future. And very directly so. If we've somehow managed to scramble out of the bottom three and are fighting for our lives after all our issues and then in January flog our reformed striker to keep the club running (I can't see why else we'd do it) - and leave ourselves without any real hope of staying up - for me that might just kill football for my finally.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 1:03 pmHmm. I like Madine. But I'm not pretending he's the best player we've ever had. Its just that in the situation we're in, selling him is just going to have such a depressingly awful consequence and probably reflect our immediate future for a few years too.
I know Ken doesn't have money to support us (or if he does, has no reason to waste it here). But if our half chance at staying up is taken away so Ken can keep his pennies in his pocket....well it would just depress me. Its not like we've had a good time of it in the past 5 years and we're hardly on the edge of glory as it is.
