Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Unfortunately, thanks to media who would much rather report tragedy than triumph, the whole of football's fifedom knows of our financiall plight. They (being anyone but Bolton Wanderers) will of course be sympathetic and wouldn't dream of injuring us further by trying to screw us in transfer negotiations. "Hang on, let them sweat" is far more likely to be the anthem of anyone wanting to deal with us than the reverse. Add, the fact that they also know that Kenneth want's his bullion back in the bank where it belongs and the fact that it's just as cut-throat (probably more so) at the shxt chute end as at the top, favours that might benefit us are as unlikely as Neymar and Messi wanting to sign a three year deal on five grand a week for us. Best we can hope (and pray) for is a further lack of injuries and a team, even the one we have now, that can see us safe till season end. Anything else is pure bonus.

Let's cash in on the big lump and his 3 months of decent form.
A new attacking line up with Alf, Dutch bloke, Lee and Vela buzzing around and scoring for fun. Wilbraham to come on for the last 10 &,hold it up.
It'll be reet

Is it worth rememberring that Madine is the only real front man we've had since Super Kev left, H.G.? Winning balls fired at you is a tough role and in fairness, Madine seems very good at just that. Add his goals and the state of our piggy bank and I'm voting keep.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:12 pmLet's cash in on the big lump and his 3 months of decent form.

Vela will need to massively improve. He does anyway. In his role you should easily be getting double figures. He needs to start scoring goals. Big time.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:12 pmLet's cash in on the big lump and his 3 months of decent form.

ALf would need to massively up his work rate. Do the same work Madine does. The central midfield isn’t going to change so the service won’t change. Can he earn his wages and step up and do a proper job instead of expecting tap ins in the box laid on a plate for him?
Those are the challenges. Both would need to massively step up major aspects of their game and immediately. Mind ALF is well rested so there is no excuse energy wise.

I just don't get the Alf not working hard gubbins. Him running up and down while our back 4 launched balls over his head doesn't show a lack of work rate. At the moment we're set up to play to Madines strengths. He goes, we need to play differently to get the best out of Alf. I'd back him over Gaz on a one on one with the keeper anyday

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
We aren't changing the midfield. We absolutely need a striker to offer something more than expecting chances laid on for him in the box. Majority of teams do. We need ALF to step up and hold the ball up. Run the channels. Bring others into play. We aren't good enough to not have someone doing that.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:48 pmI just don't get the Alf not working hard gubbins. We played not to Maxine's strengths. He adapted his game to suit us. When he first came he was useless as a target, but he's learned the role.
ALF can't grow 6 inches but he can offer an effective player with his back to goal if he works hard and uses his nous. Sadly I don't think he wants to. But he might well have to.

Apparently a deal has been agreed with Cardiff for Madine....
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Can only assume it's because Cardiff have actually met the asking price from KA. Anything less would be sheer lunacy.Peter Thompson wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:48 pmApparently a deal has been agreed with Cardiff for Madine....
If no one is lined up to replace him then it will be a long old end of the season.

It best not be an undisclosed fee...otherwise I might start paying an undisclosed amount for match tickets...

He's not that good anyway....he's just Parkinson's only way of playing (but that's more down to Parkinson's limitations than owt else) & he's just going through a purple patch, if we'd have given him a new longer term contract on better wages he'd revert to the Madine of old, perhaps it may make Parkinson play football now instead of hoofball every week, although someone will need to show him how to.
It'll be fine - CYL & the dutch lad will more than make up for Madine....

Absolute bollocks.Palace have injuries from tonight to two attacking players so Lee seems far more unlikely anyway.Peter Thompson wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:26 pmHe's not that good anyway....he's just Parkinson's only way of playing (but that's more down to Parkinson's limitations than owt else) & he's just going through a purple patch, if we'd have given him a new longer term contract on better wages he'd revert to the Madine of old, perhaps it may make Parkinson play football now instead of hoofball every week, although someone will need to show him how to.

But the rest, he's 60% of our goals. And we aren't suddenly going to become Man City. We are a team with limited ability with a midfield of Darren Pratley, Karla Henry and Josh Vela who found a way to get results thanks almost entirely to Madine's all round game and goals.
We are going to sell Madine for peanuts. And bring in a big Dutch lad on loan who is probably half fit and almost certainly will take some time to adjust.
That's it. The limits of the rest of the team are still there. Whoever plays up front needs to score goals and lead the line just like Madine was. Or Vela our attacking midfield player has to step up. Our squad is likely going to be significantly weaker than the one we entered into January with and that one was barely sufficient if at all.
And your mate Ken has bought the club for nothing and invested nowt and continues to sell players to pay the bills. How will he pay for our 5M deficit next season?

We'll find out for certain anyway when this season's accounts are released, in a few years' time.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:16 pmIt best not be an undisclosed fee...otherwise I might start paying an undisclosed amount for match tickets...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
So if we sell Madine as an absolute minimum tomorrow we need to sign:
A target man
A pacy striker of some sort to replace Armstrong
A midfield player
A centre back
That’s a minimum to get back to the squad strength we went into January with.
If Ken doesn’t produce a player who comes in and is ready immediately to do exactly what Madine does then he is entirely responsible for our inevitable relegation and can do one as far as I’m concerned. He’s proven to be a massive liar.

Selling Madine is nuts.

This f*cking club. It'll be about £3m, we'll get someone on loan the fanboys will pretend to have heard of and then down down down. After that start, to get back in contention and then shoot ourselves in the foot.
