Sensible. Two years gives us a bit of breathing space. Good signing for me. That's the Number 1 shirt filled.

Meh. Seemed a perfect opportunity to try to upgrade to me. Would like to see us go after a better keeper on higher wages and use Turner in the cups. Suspect we'll split the wages on Alnwick and another meh and send Turner out on loan.

I agree, this is quite underwhelming - to progress we need a better No1 keeper than Alnwick

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
I thought Alnwick improved a lot last season. He is really nimble on his feet and makes saves other keepers wouldn't make. His big weakness was making too many bad mistakes, particularly with shots above his head, but he seemed to tighten up on that as the season went on. He probably isn't on a particularly high wage for a Championship keeper, so I am quite happy he is re-signed. I hope we can get another established, decent keeper in to keep him on his toes, and to provide a good alternative.
Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Good signing for me. He played really well last season and definitely deserved the new contract.
I would've thought the signing would've depended on whether we could loan out Amos / Turner for a season.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
We just stayed in the division and avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth in the last match of the season, with three minutes to play. Almost miraculous, certainly very lucky. We are still in debt, still have minimum spending money and half our players are gone ( or will be) yet we are talking Billy Big Bollocks about a keeper who at the very least kept us up with a few saves long before the final countdown. His very attitude of really wanting to stay and loving Bolton is something the rest should learn from. Let's forget the prawn sandwiches and champers and get back to pies and pints reality of where and who we really are in 2018..Peter Thompson wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 6:39 pmI agree, this is quite underwhelming - to progress we need a better No1 keeper than Alnwick

Yeah, we stayed up with minutes to go. We might need to look at improving I'd suggest.
If really wanting to play for the club is enough, where do I sign?
It's not the end of the world. I don't think he's good enough, but I don't think he's definitely miles off being good enough. And yes, we're skint, so two first team mehs seems a waste for me.

But he's ours. Two more years as George Gregan would say.
Stats don't say much other than he was kept really busy...
Maybe get Fielding and have competition?

Come on. You know the routine as well as anyone: source?
PS a dearth of Depeche Mode puns in this thread despite you getting us off to an excellent start.

Spreading blasphemous rumours instead of pursuing a policy of truth but then in this thread everything counts

Big news, not yet confirmed:
"Wanderers will swing the axe" on Pratley, Henry and WIlbraham, says Marc Iles. Will release them to target "a younger, more energetic line-up".

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Might have given Henry a deal but not too bothered about the other two.
Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Confirmed that all 3 will leave.
Also that Wheater, Beevers and Conor Hall have all had contract extensions.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Well, that presumably means they're fairly sure about making signings. Looks like a bit of a shake up with only one senior forward, goalkeeper and a reduced midfield. Probably about time.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Shame about Henry, thought he was worth a year. But...

That should please a lot of people.
Wilberforce I don't care.
But Henry, if he was five years younger I'd be upset.
As for Captain Not-So-Fantastic...71% percent winning or drawing with Pratley playing....
IF he plays a full season we stay up. Simple as that.
Lot of wages freed-up for younger legs. New target too. No-one mentioned so far suits the role. Maybe that Blackburn guy...
