Wonder if the Liam Jordan "probably re-signing" with Sheff Wed has anything to do with our current shemozzle?
How many targets have not materialised due to either this kerfuffle or Ken's cheapness?
We'll never know will we?
Have we missed out on the players to keep us up already?
All blowing up in the background where inter-club spats should be kept...

Illes predicted "a couple of signings by the weekend" a week ago - Nothing...
Mystery Champ striker on the cards two weeks ago - No-one...
Mystery player spotted at Lofton pre-season training - Nowt...
Hooking up with a few other targets in Scotland - Och nay...
Joao Tex eating only pasties, all-but guaranteed to join according to foreign media - Nada...

Now we have "One signing was close to completion on Friday, and a couple of others have progressed (badly) during the weekend..." - Not a fecking Hope!
What could've happened; did.

Diego Capel has not had a club for near 12 months. So where has he been?

He was released by Anderlecht in August 2017 and only seemed to re-appear when Kevin Nolan, at Notts County, made an Allardyce type offer to the player in March 2018. https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/fo ... ty-1299652

He trained with Seattle Sounders, in April 2018 and impressed with them until he tore his right hamstring in a training exercise https://www.sounderatheart.com/sounders ... g-sounders

Nothing since except probably recovering and getting back to fitness. The second link does say that the hamstring tear was the first major injury of his career. So he is not particularly injury prone but not getting any younger either.

Good research. Circumstances definitely conspiring towards him - apart from the Amos-like wages we know Ken dinnae care for.
$15K is almost $1m GBP a year?
Maybe stretch to $10K per week?
Preferably $8K or under. 30 and hasn't played for a year now, coming off a hamstring tear too...

Another midget, hope he still has his pace. Something our side needs. Another direct dribbler attacker like SAmeobi on the left could be good.

I'm all for improving our squad but do we need another winger?

If they're good, yes. Ozzy isn't a winger, he's a centre mid - so unless we plan to play him wide we'll need at least one more. Play Ozzy wide and you lose all the best bits of his game, or so I'm reliably told.

Capel is very talented, but there are apparently some personal life issues that have had people unwilling to pick him up. No idea what they are, but rumours abound.

We could use someone who will run in behind and that's not Capel, but if we got him I'd not complain. Ideally I'd like to see a player who is closer in style to a secondary striker, but at this stage we're not exactly building the ideal first 11. We need a lot more quality in before the window closes.

Palmer at Wednesday is okay. Still plays like he is 18, but he works his socks off and has a good engine. Seen worse.....for us.....recently.

I forgot that we released Morais. We have three wingers now so I suppose we can room for another.

According to The Sun: Following Jack Hunt's sale to Bristol City last week, Palmer will now sign a new contract at Hillsborough making him the Owls' first choice right back next season,

Not a fan favourite it seems. As Ghost noted, hasn't developed over the years. Still I'd take big strong and energetic defender in his prime. Perfect sub for when we're winning to kill off a game. Although we have two right backs, maybe they see a more defensive midfield role for him?

Rumour has it we are signing Polish right back Pawel Olkowski.

Played 13 times for Poland. Been with Koln in the Bundesliga.

I garnered this from googling him - never heard of him until 5 minutes ago.

Seems his agency have confirmed he's signed a 2 year deal on twitter.

If my maths is right, that would mean we have more right-backs than centre-backs.

Deal confirmed by the club.

Parky:
I am delighted to welcome Pawel to the club. He attracted strong interest from a German and Italian club and we have worked really hard to get the deal done. He’s played at the top level in Germany and for his country, and has shown a real desire to come to England and play for Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

That's potentially a superb signing. No idea about him recently but 2-3 years ago he was rated as a serious up-and-comer in Germany. He had a blinder against Bayern and scored and assisted from right back.

Anyone seen him recently? I assume something has gone badly wrong for him to rock up here.

Pleasantly surprised with that signing, very good pedigree and a welcome departure from fishing in the bargain bin like we have been doing the past few seasons!

All I know is Piszczek is and has been absolutely mint for a decade so to get 11 caps at RB must mean he's decent.

Probably.

I'd never heard of him.

The Pole let him in of course. Three right backs can he play left?
Sounds decent but just grateful to put Mirren-gate behind us.

This - decent pedigree, better quality than we've been used to and a decent age.

Speaking of centrebacks: Reece Burke signed for relegation rivals 'Ull. $1.5m GBP

We seem to be going after better quality free players, wherever they are which is great, no doubt raising the anxiety levels of other players competing for the same positions, who will be hoping that they will not be ostracized for their role in the strike, which I believe was ill advised. Mediation before ultimatum and public strike is always better.
