Q: With the weird new window for Premier League teams (August 9), are we waiting until then to get the good loanees?

The deadline for EFL clubs for permanent signings is also August 9th. We have until August 31st to sign loanees, or to sell players to clubs who still have their TW open.

I wan't to say "don't panic", and to a degree I trust KA and PP to have players lined up. However, we will not have a competitive midfield for the first games of the season, unless we happen to find someone very quickly who is ready to step in straight away. Right now there is a big risk we will get off to a typical shambolic start and be facing a relegation battle from the off.

EDIT - I missed BWFCI's post which pretty much echoes my thoughts above.

So no Antonee for first loss? We're starting with Taylor?

Not so big bird Joe Garner is now our target

https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/bolto ... l-striker/

Ghost what's wrong with this guy again?
Scores some screamers but not enough quantity I suppose.
I love his video. But ALF scores at almost twice the rate and is a year younger.
I'm alright to start ALF. Think we should splurge on midfield defense.

I have no idea what PP is going for now. He says we need 2 strikers in. If we are keeping Alf and giving Hall some games there's no way we can be going 1-up-top. The players we have brought in don't suit a 4-4-2 and we're nowhere close to having the players to go three at the back.

I'm officially lost. Unless Alf is leaving, in which case it's all simple again.

Garner is fine, he just doesn't suit the system. If we are playing 2 strikers then Garner makes more sense. Then again, I'd rather play Alf.

Hall isn't going to get time. He will go out on loan. He's miles and miles off. And that comes from those working with him.

I've been told he'd not make league one sides as of yet.

I believe you, but it's not what was being said before Halifax. We had people at the club saying Hall was going to be proving himself this season.

If the "promising youngsters" we were being told would get a go this season and actually miles off, then we're in even worse shape than advertised.

#NoMeobi?

Sub Noone second half for SAmeobi, along with Buckley for Wildschut?
Wildschut averages 46min per appearance and Noone had a good preseason so I can see why...
BUT If we do this every game we're only going to have one sub left.

Maybe Wildschut off and Donaldson to the wing for ALF on or Ozzy to the wing for 4-4-2 with ALF on.

What role do you see this year for Ozzy? Off the bench like Morais? IF we go 4-4-2 with him we'll be overrun. Our strength is our wings. Which is weird for a Bolton team but we should use them.

------------------Alnwick------------------------
-Olki-------Whe---------Evers-----Taylor------
-Noone-----Vela--------Lowe-------Wildschut---
---------SAmeobi ----Donaldson---------

Subs: ALF for Wildschut after half Donaldson to left wing, Ozzy for Donaldson at 60min switch to 4-2-3-1, Noone for Wilson, Ameobi to right wing for 4-5-1. We win 1-0. Hooray!
What could've happened; did.

Starting line up with be. 4-5-1

Alwick
Olkowski
Wheater
Beevers
Taylor
Wilson
Lowe
Vela
Noone
Ameobi
Donaldson

Unless we sign someone match ready in time. I have no idea what happens if Wilson isn't fit enough to start but I assume he will be.

If we've signed Ozzy to be an impact sub then I'll officially give up on Parky. That signing gave me some degree of hope that we might be trying to actually unlock defences this season, rather than just try and kick the door down. He's unlikely to start the season, because he's missed games with a hip injury - but I hope he's got a proper shot at the first team.

Wilson, Lowe and Vela as a midfield 3 is just depressing.

He's not stating Oztumer who has hardly played pre-season with a hip injury away at a relegated from the premiership West Brom. I mean it just isn't happening. He probably isn't fit to start for one.

He may have to start if we don't sign anyone else like but that would have disaster written all over it I suspect.

Wilson, Lowe and Vela is Parky's only option for WBA and highlights the desperation of our situation regarding the midfield...

So we can all admit we should have addressed defensive midfielders first.
We have 3 strikers and play one up front but only 2 DMs.
Wilson is a centreback (86 games), left back (73 games) and DM (16 games) and slow.
Lowe is a 2nd best and will collect yellows too.
Vela runs about which makes him the best.

Who's available now?
Should have took Ekpan at least he has legs.
What could've happened; did.

I don't really see much issue at DM (compared to other positions, anyway). Lowe starts, for me. He communicates well and he works hard. He'll get booked, but that's part of his game. He's there to break play and spoil. Not every yellow card is a mistake. Wilson can cover.

If we can find another player who is cheap, great. If not, I'm far more panicked by left back and striker. I won't object to a top player showing up for the sitting role, though - especially if he can pass a football. Anyone have Jeremy Toulalan's phone number?
