Hierro really rates Harry Kane. I only have a Guardian live commentry but he's apparently having a blinder.

Re: Tonight's Football
Good win particularly against Spain on their territory, but we seemed to camp in our half almost all the second half and Morata hit the bar and Ramos nodded a second for them just as the "seven minutes" added time was up. They won't like it, that's for sure, but we'll take it particularly just a couple of days after Croatia. That's the first time Spain have lost at home for 15 years....

Re: Tonight's Football
Have to give a nod to that second goal from Sergio Ramos. What a cracking header. Been saying for years he's the best left back in the business and gives 100 % every time he plays (at least every time I've seen him.)

Re: Tonight's Football
Ramos may be many things, but he isn't a left back.
Cracking win for England, they look better with 4 at the back.

Re: Tonight's Football
That's my old-fashioned head talking mate. He tends to play central defender favouring the left side, but he's equally just as likely to score (as he's done many times including last night) coming in on crosses from either wing. Spanish players are much more flexible than us. Can we put a bid in for him and Brazil's Marcello to be our left side please Phil?

Solihull Moors v Blackpool in the F.A Cup starting shortly on B.B.C.2 . A real football match at last...

Re: Tonight's Football
The mighty Blackpool ( with ex Bolton Jay Spearing and Liam Feeney (only 10 mins)) held to 0-0 by non-league Solihull Moors. A real fighting display and an enjoyable match from the underdogs. They were unlucky not to win and had a goal disallowed on a dodgy offside. Good luck to them in the replay.

Sorry to spoil TD's numbers but I see that lot down the road have ruined Christmas and spoiled everyone's fun.
Still hopeful they're enough of a shambles to keep the fun going.

I could tolerate them winning regularly for a short period if it means they bend to public pressure and make the mistake of appointing Solskjaer permanently.

Oh well, can always rely on the Bin Dippers to do their bit.

Don't diss The Rams!
I kid you not, they have a fella there at the moment goes by the name of Charles Dickens.
No doubt signed with great expectations.

Absolutely cracking game of football just about to start extra time at 2-2, Southhampton and Derby County. Some really excellent football being played. Dery were 2-0 down and now back level.

^^
Ended with Derby winning after extra time and penalties. Ironically, Redman, who for me was M.O.T.M was the only one to miss his penalty, skying it over the bar. A really smashing game with Derby worthy winners. Tom Lawrence missed at least three good chances to score.

Re: Tonight's Football
My next door neighbour went to the game. He told me it was "one of the best matches he's been to in weeks". He wasn't being ironic. If only we could get to a position where I could say to somebody those exact words...TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:52 pm^^

I think the youth would describe it as ‘absolute scenes’. 2 minutes to go in the cup final, and Sarri tries to sub his keeper, who refuses to come off. There’s a little stand off, and Sarri backs down. Extraordinary.

Re: Tonight's Football
Just watched England women play America in....The Shebelieves Cup" ?? Found that just a bit odd...might just be me. Anyway, they aren't as good a team as last year although they drew 2-2 (after leading 2-1) and really missed players like Millie Bright, Jill Scott and little Christianson. America had some rally nifty footballers on show. England play Japan on Tuesday at (I think) 10-0'clock p.m.

Re: Tonight's Football
England 5, Czech Republic 0. Petty impressive particularly with new young kids in the side. Dyer retired injured early on Barclay was a surprise if effective sub. Stirling grabbed a hat-trick, Harry Kane a penalty goal and they gifted us an own goal. In between, the opposition played some decent football on the break and luckily left their shooting boots at home. We still tend to ball-watch some and need to realise we aren't the only team with speedy players. The sight of one man making ten players back off is something seen only in English football (especially at the University of Bolton Stadium), but we were pretty solid generally. That said, it was a pretty confident display by the Lions. ...Kane played really well and his telling passes are something to praise. Had a good shot saved near the end.
Montenegro on Monday.

Imagine not thinking Sterling was world class...
If be astonished if we're not in a major final in the next ten years. Sancho the most impressive English teenager in my lifetime (Rooney and Owen included). If he really pulls it all together he has a huge chance to be the world's second best player over the next decade.
Add Kane, Rashford, Foden and the rest. feck it's exciting.
