Let's hope we dick 'em next season.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 7:54 pmFleetwood feck* Town and Joey convict Barton laying in on Twitter...over a forward who has spent time in the nick (and has managed to shed enough doubt since to be allowed back on the pitch). That it’s come to this is undoubtedly a low point...I couldn’t believe how small time they actually were when they pitched up with about 300 supporters at our place a couple of years ago.

It's harmless banter. It's not like they've come over and set fire to a changing room.Jugs wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 9:07 pmLet's hope we dick 'em next season.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 7:54 pmFleetwood feck* Town and Joey convict Barton laying in on Twitter...over a forward who has spent time in the nick (and has managed to shed enough doubt since to be allowed back on the pitch). What happened in the transfer window was all our fault; Joey Barton says so....

Dickheads right! As I said above it’s a shame it’s come to a spat with Fleetwood town...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Nah. He's just being a dick. Player wanted to come. They stopped him on a technicality. Of course we left it too late, but then we don't have the money to just go and get what we need whenever we want. So that's life. In the past we've pulled these things off, this time we didn't.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:50 pmDickheads right! As I said above it’s a shame it’s come to a spat with Fleetwood town...
Frankly I'm glad as I think we'd have been adding another good league one striker to our ranks rather than one capable of really making an impression in this league. We needed a lot more than Ched Evans. And then there is the unsavoury business to contend with.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Technicality meaning they could keep the player, thems the rules. Perhaps if Parky had rung him and said that Ched wants to come, offered them Hall or Oztumer as a replacement as opposed to just assuming they would ‘do the right thing’ with a few hours of the window left. Why only decide then that you want to sign him? I wouldn’t help us in Barton’s shoes either. He’s a ‘look at me’ dickhead for banging it all in the paper but he’s right.
I agree fwiw and am glad we didn’t get him - were going down regardless, why waste the wages on that scumbag.

I'm sure Ken would've found a way around that.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:58 pmTechnicality meaning they could keep the player, thems the rules. Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Probably because we ran out of options. Even the big clubs often end up trying too late. I'm not defending Ken at all. But I think its harsh to blame the club for the situation. We tried to beg, borrow and steal a striker out of desperation. Fleetwood needed 24 hours notice which they didn't get. Fine. They kept a player against his will. I'm not saying they shouldn't have. Just that Barton lecturing anyone on "the right thing" is a complete joke. I imagine the issue with just "sending them a player" is they have to want said player and said player has to want to go. Hall for example - doubt he'd be considered good enough. Oztumer - was at Charlton to sign apparently if we'd brought a striker in.....officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:58 pmTechnicality meaning they could keep the player, thems the rules. Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Perhaps Wiggin did us again and we thought we had Clarke lined up - so chedwyn was suggested to soften the blow.
Anyway who cares, he’s a league one player and one I’m happy enough about not paying. He wouldn’t have made a difference here.

Good news, Luca Connell can still be sold outside the window as he isn’t on a pro contract. Might help Ken’s bottom line

Any player can be sold. They just can't be registered feature for their new club in a first team fixture. I guess the point with Connell is that the teams looking to buy him aren't looking to play him but put him in their development squads.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 8:25 amGood news, Luca Connell can still be sold outside the window as he isn’t on a pro contract. Let's hope this takeover happens asap and we can tie him down to a pro deal.

Interesting you think he's playing it down, TG. I didn't read it that way at all. Sounds more wearily resigned to me.
