Does the 'football creditors' preferential treatment continue in both admin and liquidation?
Yes.
Ta. So unless HMRC count as football creditors, or similarly get preferential treatment, they'd be daft to push for insolvency and get a small slice of the money they're owed. Right?
Correct. But see above ^

To be honest, administration and liquidation aren't things to be feared. Any T Rex can tell you they'd live with liquidation... it's extinction you want to avoid.

HMRC are desperate to make an example out of a football club. We’d be perfect. Local northern town club with rich history that will make huge headlines but within a week the rest of the country won’t care about.

Better that than making Amazon pay what they owe. It achieves two key Tory ambitions. feck the north of England as hard as possible and protect big business as far as is possible.

You were doing so well, and then had to mention the Tories!
Aggressive Compliance was initiated by a bloke called Gordon Brown.
Amazon, Google and the rest fxcked off south of a non-hard border under Labour...

It was tongue in cheek. But let’s face it, HMRC have had us as number one target on their radar for ages. We are perfect for those very reasons. Nobody of any serious political influence cares about Northern town football clubs.

Well let's examine that one too:
Glasgow Rangers
Blackpool
Bolton Wanderers
Port Vale
Coventry City
Charlton Athletic
Portsmouth...

Hmmmmf all uniquely Northern towns. Not.

What benefits are there to the buyers if we enter administration?

I have no experience in these matters but this consortium can pay KA around £35m now and get the club 'debt free'. Ken pays off all the creditors and makes a hefty profit before riding off into the sunset with full pockets.

What if this consortium know we are days from folding. Do they just have to delay the process and wait to buy the club lock stock and barrel from the administrators instead without Ken's massive profit? Can they do that for say £25m by agreeing to pay off all the debt? Is Ken being played at his own high stakes poker game but the consortium know they can't lose?

If you believe Dale Vince - perhaps a conversation in itself - our Ken blurted that “You can seek a winding-up petition, you can bankrupt the club: I don't care, I'm a secured lender. I’ll get my money back and you’ll get 10p in the pound." So does that mean he'd get his £5m loan, signed to him by Eddie, back in full? If so, how - by us selling the stadium to a roving band of footballers who need a home?

I was assuming he would get his £5m back but not the £10m fee he wants.

OK, so by that rationale, the closer we get to admin/liquidation the more chance of him losing that £5m (as in the difference between the £10m and the £5m)

So we're back to brinksmanship. but he does have skin in the game

He gets the £5m as a secured creditor if the administrators can raise that much after the football creditors are paid. I don’t know whether raising that will be easy given the stadium will be very difficult to sell. Is the training ground worth much? Can’t see what other assets we might have of substance to sell. Other than the whole business....which might not leave enough for Ken....and remember he owed that money to ED trustees...

I haven’t researched it thoroughly but the quote I’ve seen from Dale Vince - and thus a second-hand quote from an axe-grinder - is “secured lender”
