Nixon reporting that league trying to broker deal between Basran and Anderson. Makes sense league a) do not want headache of having to wipe out our results from this season and implications of that should we be liquidated b) league also have embarrassing Shaun Harvey comments defending Anderson only a few weeks ago plus passing KA as "fit and proper" in the 1st place, for founder member to cease to exist would be incredibly embarrassing for them in light of this.

Look on the bright side - Wigan would drop back into the bottom three....Derby would leapfrog a few into the playoffs...
Be good for Brum, too.
They need the boost, facing an EFL hearing of their own where there is a chance of a points deduction. They can thank us for keeping that in the background...

Think Wigan would be one goal above Rotherham, who would be just below the dots in the higher of the *two* relegation slots.
Would it be two or three down? Nightmare for the league....

:conf: At this stage in the season would all our games be revoked? I thought the remaining games got a pro rata average points arrangement if less than ten percent of games remained...

They would be expunged - just as they were for Accy in March '62, Aldershot in March '92 and any club in the current Football League rules.

Is that 12.2 then?

Cessation of membership. If a Club (or Clubs) ceases to be a member of The League for any reason (including, without limitation, pursuant to Article 4 of the Articles of Association or by way of relegation or expulsion for disciplinary reasons).

Only my understanding is that Liquidation isn't necessarily a cessation of membership.
I'm trying to find the Article 4 bit...

NB found it. Article 4 regards resignation, not liquidation.

I think we need Lord Pannick, an Attorney General, and a star chamber of 8 QCs... :|

Liquidation means you no longer exist as an entity....that's a cessation of membership.

They're not going to take our points away if we're still in the league. Only if we go pop for good.

What's more likely is a week's final grace to Sort It Out.

What's hopefully even more likely is that Basran and Anderson avoid that by striking a deal in the next (checks watch) 20 hours or so. Otherwise they may have to make payments to creditors under court orders which may well be more stringent than can otherwise be agreed.

Reports are that another club has joined FGR in asking for money - presumably Norwich if we haven't paid wages for Matthews/Wildschut, or possibly Charlton over the Magennis fee? If the court orders any and all creditors ('football', 'secured', whatever) to be paid in full, then that's a much bigger bill immediately for whoever's left holding the baby... if the baby survives.

Clubs are obliged to resign their membership when they cease to exist. It's a sad letter to have to write.

On what basis can court grant a "week's grace"? Public interest? Those in the know think that is highly doubtful given past behaviour of business.

Also Iles and Nixon both saying that Basran and Anderson talks went nowhere....

You need to tell that to the Co-op when, in court, they argued and won, that just because my grandfather was dead he hadn't ceased to be a member...

Court: the mechanics of admin or liquidation might take a week... which might be enough. Or Bas/Ken might be close enough to prove to court that honest guv we can make it. Maybe even a case where both agree to EFL arbitration and a third party bangs their bloody heads together (and possibly stops Ken spivving others out of the door).

But I still think that the two parties will agree. You note they talked today, despite previous breakdowns; perhaps the deadline is focusing minds. Along with the aforementioned fiscal penalties for the 'winner' under court-imposed fiscal regulations.

Bolton Wanderers Football Club can confirm that discussions with one of the interested parties have now been mutually terminated.

The Club can also confirm that discussions are ongoing with other parties.

A further update will be made in due course.

You have a lot more faith in this Basran dude than me. He's pulled out about 3 times now. I get its business but unless someone has some evidence to prove otherwise there is enough doubt in my mind that he's got the funds to get this over the line.

PREDICTION TIME.
HMRCs very harrased junior QC stands up and asks for BWFC liquidation.
BWFCs equally junior and very inexperienced QC asks for time as 'things are unfolding'.
Judge bangs gavel and declares parties must get together and bang heads. Adjourns proceedings to a month's time.

Panic fannies.
That's not a leopard!
