Now this surprised me a tad.
The lifeboat stations or Éire are still manned by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Seems the 'old country' wasn't all bad.

A few years back, a local taxi-driver said he was from Iran. I asked him if he Knew of Omar Khayyam "Ah, yes I know him. Has a barber shop on Manchester Road" he said, nodding and smiling. I just nodded back and left it at that.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 9:54 amWho? Any relation to Victor?TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 9:10 amOmar Khayyam's 971'st birthday today. He wasn't even a Punjabi Indian but a Persian (back then before it became Iran, and he was born there) and a scientist, astronomer and mathematician as well as a poet..Enoch wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 6:37 pmLost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 2:51 pmTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 2:38 pmA few years back, a local taxi-driver said he was from Iran.
