Enjoyed this quiz question I saw on Twitter:

Of Keir Hardie, Ramsay MacDonald, Harold Wilson, James Callaghan and Gordon Brown, which Labour leader is the odd one out, and why?*

*"Comedy" answers get -10 points.

Change UK has applied to the Electoral Commission to change its name.

Might I suggest, 'Road to Oblivion'.

Bye!

Nope. I'll give you that the odd one out is Callaghan, and that Paul McCartney would also fit the category (other than not being a Labour leader)...

Callaghan did the fab four, which he has in common with McCartney.

The answer is...

Callaghan is the odd one out as he is the only one whose first name isn't James.

Today the ‘Med7’ countries are being hosted in Valetta for discussions away from the EU’s 21 other members. The leaders of France, Spain, Portugal, Malta, Italy, Greece and Cyprus will all be in attendance for the sixth annual summit...

Funny that, last time I looked Portugal had about the same length of Mediterranean coastline as Estonia.

Cabinet Secretary talking about leaving the EU without a withdrawal agreement:

* There has been "a lot of preparation".

* "We have got the government in pretty good shape and public services in pretty good shape for it".

* "We did a lot of preparation for no-deal in the run-up to the March/April deadline and of course we continue to try and keep those programmes in the best possible shape."

.

Yet, apparently many UK businesses are not close to being ready.

HMRC launched the Transitional Simplified Procedures scheme in February, aimed at easing imports in the event of the UK leaving the customs union and single market abruptly.

Fewer than 10% of the firms estimated to require the status had applied for it as of 26 May.

If they spent as much energy doing something positive as they do wringing hands and predicting doom....

Latest application for manager to reach B.W.F.C is from a T.May (Westminster Rovers) who claims to have a cabinet full of trophies, lots of experience in Europe and will soon be available on a free transfer.

Caught a bit of an old Les Dawson repeat tonight. The great man commented " I'd like to tell the politicians to go to hell; bu they're building it for us"
Hell wasn't built in a day then.

I keep hearing folk from the trough saying it's not possible to have a technological resolution to the customs issue on the island of Ireland.

In '61, when Kennedy said the Yanks would land a man on the moon before the end of the decade, if folk had been as obstructive as the UK establishment has been to leaving the EU they'd still be thinking about it.

Honestly! With 60's technology it took eight years to develop and achieve Kennedy's momentous goal. With current technology we can't track product that has an export licence. I call foul.

More to the point, who the fxck cares if there is a different customs regime on either side of a border: apart from a bunch of tosspots who have some weird idea that the oiland of Oiland shall never be divoided. Fxck them, impose a hard border and watch fifteen men with guns and pipe bombs go nuts. For what? Just to show the world their sick fantasy still lives! Fxck them. Fxck the IRA. They don't top trump democracy.

In other news, you are correct. The EU will be the first to tell Ireland to set up a hard border, the very first, in the event of a no-deal Brexit, the hypocrites. And it will be done within weeks in that event.

But it'll never happen, because Boris "we'll be leaving on 31st October" Johnson is as full of shit as Theresa "Brexit means Brexit we'll be leaving on March 29th" May.

Police are now investigating five allegations of fraud in the Peterborough bye election, narrowly won by Labour.
One of their key investigations is into vote rigging by supposedly ex-Labour member Tariq Mahmood.
There are claims that Muslims were bussed in and paid £10 each to vote Labour. There were claims that counters at the election had destroyed more than 1,000 votes for the Brexit Party, and that votes in the Asian majority Central ward had an overwhelmingly higher proportion of both postal votes and late voting...
Peterborough is a well known election fraud hotspot.
For Labour, Mohammed Choudhury (mayor), Maqbool Hussein (candidate), Tariq Mahmood (secretary of the local Labour Party, and for the conservatives, Abdul Razaq (candidate) and Mohammed Khaliq (candidate) were all jailed for electoral fraud... I wonder what possible connection links them all?

I'd wager they are all quite keen on cricket.

I'd further wager they don't necessarily play by the MCC's Laws.

They all possibly turn a whiter shade of pale whenever Rotherham turns up in a conversation... But, no, that's not the connection.
