Expect a massive media bandwaggon passing by with The Sun etc giving it " Our Boys" loud and long, Union Jacks, St George's flags, paper masks of Joe Root etc, etc....in the lead....

What this does further highlight, of course, is how utterly fecking ridiculous it is that we're the hosts to the most prestigious one day international tournament of a game that we took to the world and it isn't covered by terrestrial television. Then people wonder how come there are those of us in our 50s who are still being asked to play to make a side up.

The other side of the coin is - that without the SKY TV money where would the game be?Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 2:01 pmWhat this does further highlight, of course, is how utterly fecking ridiculous it is that we're the hosts to the most prestigious one day international tournament of a game that we took to the world and it isn't covered by terrestrial television. It is a difficult one. I think though that every game involving England should be screened on free to air TV in the UK. Same for the Aussie games on Aussie networks etc....
That way Sky still make their sponsorship and there is reason for people to buy their services but you aren't denying the wider public the chance to watch England in a world cup.

Latest masterstroke is that Channel 4 are leaving the cricket for the duration of the Motor Racing and returning when it's finished.....that defies belief....Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 2:01 pmWhat this does further highlight, of course, is how utterly fecking ridiculous it is that we're the hosts to the most prestigious one day international tournament of a game that we took to the world and it isn't covered by terrestrial television. Back in the realms of common sense perhaps ? Is it about cricket or Sky making money?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 2:29 pm

They've had the F1 rights for ages. Can see why they've moved it while that's on. Will still be on one of the other Freeview 4 channels (more 4 maybe).TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 11:35 amLatest masterstroke is that Channel 4 are leaving the cricket for the duration of the Motor Racing and returning when it's finished.....that defies belief....Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 2:01 pmWhat this does further highlight, of course, is how utterly fecking ridiculous it is that we're the hosts to the most prestigious one day international tournament of a game that we took to the world and it isn't covered by terrestrial television. Anyway, any news on Bairstow?

That is my understanding. The cricket moves to More4 when F1 is on.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Happy bowling first and surprised NZ didn’t stick us in. Pitch looks green and it’s a damp morning. I’d expect some swing early doors and feel their best chance of winning would have been to get Roy and Bairstow to nick off early and put pressure on. As it is, hopefully archer and woakes can take full advantage without the pressure of Morgan having chosen to bowl.

Current deluded optimism level: we lost a few chasing on purpose so teams would bat first in early morning cloud.

No need to attack the stumps. Hold a nice 4th stump line, let the early movement do the job.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:35 amTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:32 amGo at the wickets, keep the runs down and the rest is fate. Gentlemen, let play commence. Come on England....

She’s long cited Geoffrey Boycott as her biggest inspiration in life with his grit and determination to dig in. Not sure what she’d make of Roy and Bairstow

We need a couple of wickets here. New Zealand starting to score comfortably and giving themselves a good platform.

That’s a big wicket. Williamson the linchpin. Get either Taylor or Nicholls quickly and we’re right among them.
