He's back!

(And still bumping a thread that has little relevance to our current predicament).

You could almost say he's been reborn.

[To me, his username conjures up visions of David Icke dressed in a purple tracksuit combo tucking into a dish of placentas. Which probably says more about me than him, in truth...]
That's not a leopard!

How come the supporters don’t get together to buy the club out?

Let's do the fag-packet maths.
Five thousand fans there on Saturday.
£25m for the club, £15m for the hotel which makes it solvent.
That's eight grand each.
In a poor town.
And that's before we get into the ongoing running costs.

Yeah, it's not happening, One-Note.

He did, which is fine. I don't think he's a WUM now, just someone confused. I'm glad it worked for Pompey and I wish it'd work for us, but it won't so we move on.

It’s the groundI think that puts it out of the reach of supporters groups. But I’m not informed enough as to know why. Recall reading that we pay more in business rates than both Sheffield clubs combined. Why is that?

Or, in Ken's case, we don't

Who owns the ground? I'm trying to work out how we did it now at Portsmouth. I think we had some help from the local council who lent us some money. Surely with going into administration you'd be paying pennies on the pound like we did with any debt and wouldn't front up everything owned. I believe anyone who was owed 10k or less got their full amount and anything else was pennies on the pound.

We own the ground.
It just seems to cost the club a hell of a lot more than others. It obviously has offices and a hotel so it is a 24/7 business - which should be a good thing - but it seems to be a burden. At 28000 it’s clearly too big for a league one side in this part of the world.
The business rates point is an issue - and as pointed out is one of the main debtors (local council to tune of more than £1 million).
I am not sure if these are negotiable and why it would be twice as much as teams higher up the pyramid in wealthier cities.

I'm very sad to read this. Another famous old club in trouble. I remember Bolton stuffed my boys, Arsenal in the 94 fa cup at Highbury, McAteer running them ragged. Rioch was manager then, I think - I was listening to it on the radio with a mate who was wetting himself laughing. I hope a buyer can be found in time. Sadly soccer is a business now for the elites and not a local family event when a local businessman would own the club and everybody pitched in - the FA hammer clubs for being broke with fines and deduct points rather than helping them out. Soccer is dying, period. If they keep letting the local clubs to be killed off there will be no leagues, no players to come through the ranks. I know the elites want this Euro super league, which is doomed to failure. And in many respects I hope they get their wish so they can chop the head off the goose and become about as popular as snooker. Fingers crossed, Bolton, something happens before 5.pm.
