WE DON'T KNOW.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 4:33 pmSomeone tell me what the point of three centre backs is? I don’t see a single advantage it gives us beyond what Brockbank abandons the role to play as a winger......

IE before the game "....The most important thing for us it to concentrate on ourselves and be better at what we do. Certainly that means that defensively we need to be stronger..."
So did he not tell the players this?
Once again the opposition run at us straight down the middle and score - How many times does this have to happen before IE wakes up?
What do you expect IE will say now?

Again Sarcevic whinging that Brockbank is holding his position as the Crawley player wanders past him(Sarc that is).
Re: We've all come a long way: Crawley (H) Sat 2 Jan @ 3pm
Seemingly too pedestrian going forward for the most part. Last 5 minutes there's been a notable shift in tempo but we're still suffering from the fullbacks being too deep.
We don't want the ball hoofed forward and we're struggling to get any wing play because our wide men are starting so deep. Which means inevitably we're not whipping crosses into the front man and any attacking play we have gets to midfield and invariably slows down enough for the opposition defence to get settled. Presumably the wingbacks sitting so deep has meant that Doyle has ended up wide and doing the crossing in, instead of attacking the ball.
Seems like we've constantly got a numerical disadvantage due to our tactics.
For lack of a better target man, give Santos a run up front, knocking down to Doyle and Delfouneso either side. Might end up giving them enough of a distraction to give our front men some space.

What have the Romans ever done for us?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 4:04 pmA reasonable reshuffle of personnel but it would worry me for various reasons.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:57 pmI think I’d leave Santos and Greenidge with Brockbank and Jones at full back. Isgrove on the right Thomason on the left.
Firstly, some of our best moves have come from centre-backs pushing on.
Secondly, it would maroon our best passer (Tomo) wide left.
Thirdly, it would force our neat and tidy anchorman (Tutte) into a more general role which would be easier to bypass.
Fourthly, it wouldn't necessarily improve penetration as Tomo isn't a winger.
Fifthly, it sounds obvious but we'd be going from having three defenders to four defenders – Jones has struggled to penetrate from WB so he wouldn't have a hope from LB. Same for Brocky out right.
Sixthly, they seem to me to be playing quite narrow and would therefore overpower our depleted centre.
We might, at some point, be able to play a 4-4-2 but (1) I doubt it and (2) it would need new players, like the back three does.
How we're not level is anyone's guess.

Having a proper go now, but only themselves to blame for the finishing.
