Not to defend the ref, but if you take a shot and then I hit you round the head with a golf club, that's a penalty.

If the challenge is so late the striker got a shot off anyway, that's not the ref's bad.

Comms described it as a WWE-style body-check or something and that fits with the fleeting visual I got
