Re: Remaining fixtures
Exactly where I am. Probably the nicest thing about this year is we've lost the fear. We've stopped fearing losing and actually go out to win games a rather than trying not to lose and nick something.

Re: Remaining fixtures
And it stays that way at half time. Southend just got a whole new lot of fans..

Re: Remaining fixtures
The Shrimpers' lead over the Shrimps doesn't seem undeserved, either: Southend have had six shots to Morecambe's three, two on target to the home side's zero.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:17 pmAnd it stays that way at half time. Southend just got a whole new lot of fans..

So that's
Bolton lost to Colchester
Cheltenham drew with Grimsby
Tranmere drew with Grimsby
Cheltenham lost to Barrow
Newport lost to Barrow
Morecambe losing to Southend
*Everybody* drops points they shouldn't.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Carlisle looking like creeping up three points. 2-0 up against Scunthorpe.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Even then they'd still be seven points behind us with just one game in hand - so either they'd have to go on a hell of a tear, or us on a hell of a slide. Or both...TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:57 pmCarlisle looking like creeping up three points. 2-0 up against Scunthorpe.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Well done Southend. Restricted Morecambe to one point.

Re: Remaining fixtures
FT Morecambe 1-1 Southend
Got away with that one a bit - don't think Southend had a shot of any sort after the oranges, whereas by my reckoning Morecambe had 11 (of which only the goal was on target)

Cheers Southend. Not a complete disaster this weekend then.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Far from it. On this last matchday, the current top six got four points between them.
Once again, nobody seems to want to win this division.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Indeed. Had they won tonight, Morecambe would be third. They won't be too happy. Start up the carousel again, maestro..

Re: Remaining fixtures
Aye so 1st/2nd feels less likely and we've lost a place to a GD of 1 better than us. Coulda been worse, just hope it's a blip and not the yips.
Re: Remaining fixtures
They're all caving after seeing us come up on the rails. We're just toying with them.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 8:38 pmAye so 1st/2nd feels less likely and we've lost a place to a GD of 1 better than us. Coulda been worse, just hope it's a blip and not the yips.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Doesn't feel like the yips to me. Performance against Newport was still very good. We win that game 7 or 8 times in 10. We didn't look nervy to me.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Seven points to make up in seven games on the leader. Possible? Every game for everyone now is a scrap for 3 points. I believe we should stick to our trusty 4-2-3-1 and don't panic by sticking in extra forward players to score goals on teams who will no doubt stay tight hoping to squeeze one on us. Don't panic Mr Evatt.
Re: Remaining fixtures
Agree that Freedmanesque formation changes would be asking for trouble. Certainly have the personnel to freshen up the forward line though.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 10:49 pmSeven points to make up in seven games on the leader. Possible? Re: Remaining fixtures
Seven in seven is possible, just less likely than trying to make up five in ten...irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 10:49 pmSeven points to make up in seven games on the leader. Possible? Re: Remaining fixtures
"seven in seven" is a bit reductive given we, and everyone else, has a game in hand.

Re: Remaining fixtures
Aye. Let's not forget that in both games we were the width of the crossbar from taking early leads that I strongly suspect we wouldn't have let go of. We've only given away two leads since Christmas, and one of those was a belatedly acknowledged assist from the referee.
