I guess it depends what you look at. His first touch is probably his weakness. But he can glide past people in midfield better than anyone else and his shooting technique is pretty good compared to say Lee (who has played a much higher level). So I guess technique encompasses many things. I never expected him to miss the penalty (I'm not convinced though I'd have been as comfortable with Lee taking one).Prufrock wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 4:20 pmHis first touch is usually knee height And I don't think he's great at the technical stuff in tight spaces, quite often snatches at shots etcBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 3:35 pmReally? I think he's very technically gifted. Odd how people see things differently.
All 5 looked confident stepping up which was great to see.
It's all relative, this is probably the best group we've had technically in a long time, and he probably just isn't quite at the level (though he has plenty other attributes) as say Lee or Sheehan.
They all have weaknesses to some degree (or they wouldn't be here). MJ for example is probably a bit more pace and athleticism away from being a top half Champo player.

If Bolton is/was Camelot, Wigan is Tintagel, Merlin's lair.

Definitely dibble and the pie eaters seem to think it’ll be two reserve teams in a “nothing” competition! We shall see but I think they may be in for a shock.

Just getting their excuses in early

I doubt either manager will risk making too many changes for that one. We will take a big contingent and it will be the first derby game with fans for a good while, so I reckon we both go with close to our first teams.Whitesince63 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 2:16 pm

Don't the 'bigger clubs' come in at the third round? Potentially a chance to make a few Quid?Whitesince63 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 2:16 pm

I'm not sure we're in any kind of a position to start being dismissive at all.

^^ I reckon Evatt has said often enough that winning is a habit. So even if it has some changes (and I'm not sure entirely whether he's got a "preferred XI") I'm sure he'll be sending out a team he thinks are capable of winning.

Some “big” clubs are in now Bruce other than those who were involved in European competition who come in at the third round stage as you rightly say, so if we can get through this it will get interesting.

I went to the FA Cup replay there in 2011 when there were more of us then them. That was a good game. Can't remember how the run ended...

To be honest I hadn't looked at the full draw, but yes, you're bang on; I hadn'trealised. I guess the draw could've been kinder to us than socially distanced Wiggin away, but still, it is what it is I suppose. It'll just be a bit of a pisser now if we go out.Whitesince63 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 6:57 pmBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:46 pmDon't the 'bigger clubs' come in at the third round?
