Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I've remembered now - it was lukewarm soup (I had pretty gnarly dental surgery on Thursday)
Aye, for a decade in the top two flights he's reliably been a 30+ games per season man – but his appearances have reduced as he's fallen out of favour with Stoke boss Michael O'Neill, despite being born in the same country. Can't imagine why folks can't get along.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I’d be more than happy with McClean if we bring him, but as others have mentioned, that wouldn’t be a position I’d be prioritising.
I notice that lockdown legend Peter Kioso actually got onto the pitch for Luton yesterday, so unfortunately that ship has probably sailed.
Striker and right back would be the positions I’d be looking at for the end of the window. Hopefully there will be some Prem players made available with subsidised wages over the coming weeks.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I see that United lad, Elanga, we were linked with earlier in the summer didn’t make their bench yesterday. He seems to be highly rated by that lot, but presumably isn’t going to get much of a sniff there this season unless they have an injury crisis. Perhaps it’s quite unlikely they’d send him as low as League One unless they’re short of options, though.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
You would imagine they would have second-tier offers for Elanga.
However, if we keep playing fast, attacking football, we'll be an attractive destination for lending promising youngsters. Might not even be top-flight clubs – as I say, two teams (Lincoln and Oxford) reached the play-offs last season with double-digit goal returns from borrowed second-tier players.
For the record, QPR's Shodipo has gone back on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, while Brennan Johnson (son of former Bury/Ipswich/Forest forward David) is still at Forest. He's started both league games, Brentford have made two bids and he's stalling on a contract while Forest value him at £10m...
So yeah, there's talent to be borrowed.

McClean would be cover for left back too. I highly doubt it’s anything other than newspaper tittle tattle. But would be worse players to sign. Doesn’t scream an Evatt signing though.

There is not a chance of that cnut Mclean getting anywhere near BWFC, the board & management would not want anything to do with such a divisive character.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:10 pmMcClean would be cover for left back too. I'd be happy to see McClean here but as others have said, there are greater areas of the pitch that need attention. We've only a handful, thankfully, but enough goons in our support that think its perfectly acceptable to boo their own players taking a knee but someone refusing to wear a poppy? My God! There'd be a gammon explosion!!

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I do wonder how many of those who wouldn't want to see us sign McLean for purely non football-related reasons were happy enough with the notion of us signing Ched Evans?!Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 5:11 pmI'd be happy to see McClean here but as others have said, there are greater areas of the pitch that need attention. Sharon’s all about inclusivity. From everything I’ve heard about her she’s way above tabloid driven nationalist nonsense. So I suspect you are way off beam.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:21 pmThere is not a chance of that cnut Mclean getting anywhere near BWFC, the board & management would not want anything to do with such a divisive character.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:10 pmMcClean would be cover for left back too. See the clubs stance on taking the knee for example.

The whole season? Wow!
He was one of the few bright spots of the relegation season, an exciting player, bags of skill and with an eye for goal. Hope to God he can recover fully from his injury and get his career back on track

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Yep good luck to him. I'm sure we will have a recall option and ultimately I think he's probably a long way off being at his best (at least from what I heard when was told a loan was likely) so I suspect its a slow process. But I'd rather he went to league 2 than Scotland as I think the chance will be there for us to see where he's at.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 12:10 pmThe whole season? Wow!

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
We have a recall option on January apparently. I think it's a good one for all parties.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Yep, I presume the plan would be to offer him a new contract if he does well during the first half of the season.
Good luck to the boy. A talented player and someone I hope to see in a Bolton shirt again.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Yep got a recall - it’s good because he’s gone to a league where hopefully he can get back to fitness, won’t be playing for/against any clubs who would have a chance of signing him and he won’t come back in Jan to be dicked about with a la Kioso last season. Hope he does well enough to earn a recall mind.

I've never been convinced Evatt really sees him as being in his long-term plans.

Perhaps not, but I thought the same about Brockbank.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 1:38 pmI've never been convinced Evatt really sees him as being in his long-term plans.
Good luck Dennis - go sizzle, earn a contract and we’ll see in Jan. Maybe it could be a Kioso - if we’re safely mid-table, lend to a third-tier struggler who’d play him. Lots of ifs there though.
