Hahaha good grief. We’re breaking all sorts of records for numbers of ducks this year already and there are still 6 tests to go.

We might win this in extras. They seem to be trying too hard to bowl something amazing.

Long may it continue.

When you think half the job of the openers is to stand up to the pressure....Australia will not be worried - Hameed could've followed them too (but you have to ride your luck as a batsman).

10th duck by England openers this year. This is our 10th test. So that’s 1 in 2 innings one of our openers fails to score.

Sibley must never play for England again. Full stop.

He's not alone there sadly. But we must start with the most absolutely hopeless cases and work from there.

He got a peach there tbf, but I don't disagree.

He did, but he was pulled into a horrible front on position with head way inside the line of the bat. You’ve got more chance of keeping the good balls out if you keep in line.

So who are we bringing in to replace Sibley, then? I don't disagree either... 4 down now,...looking like a long last session, I think Buttler needs to bat most of it with Root...

Somehow, relating to pure odds, I'm getting mental pictures of the British contingent's feelings at Rorke's Drift, The chances of Joe Root doing a "Bromhead" look exceedingly slim right now. :(

Still, hope springs eternal ... ae:)

That Crawley lad looks good and might be worth a go? Otherwise, Hameed had a decent test scoring 9, being dismissed twice and being dropped at slip once.

Seriously though, I don’t think there are compelling replacements in county cricket. Burns and Sibley are the two who have had weight of runs behind them in the last few years.

I don’t think we’ll survive today. Buttler, Ali, Curran could all be rolled over quite quickly and it wouldn’t surprise me.

Aye that's the problem with top order - we've tried most of 'em! Keaton Jennings, this is your life. I'd forgot Ali and maybe Curran....Going to have to dig in too.

Shami and Bumrah absolute rabbits - hopeless batsmen - seen as the worst tail in cricket - put on 89 without being out and that's more than England's top 5 batsmen have managed in reply.

This is a dark, dark, dark day for English test cricket. Make no mistake about it the cricketing world is having a right laugh at us now.

Genuinely hoped, especially after Pant was out we’d be fully on the charge to a famous victory this afternoon.

6, 7 and 8 are probably still "batters" too. Hopefully they'll show it between 'em.

We haven't lost yet, and even if we do, England lost a test match; hardly world shattering. It's a battle, not the war.

Whilst being fair to Buttler, Moeen and Curran none of them are players I'd particularly fancy or choose to have to defend for 2 hours.....

Oh well, Kohli's face there was a brief moment of pleasure. Half ran off celebrating before realising he'd dropped it/shambling to collect. A dolly tbf.

Oh come on. This is appalling, its been one of the worst days in the last few decades following England and that's saying something. We were starting the day with the view that if Pant went early we'd have a superb chance of winning. Then two players who average 15 between them and whose recent form with the bat is not just bad but catastrophic put on 89 and England's batting order collapses faster than a pack of cards and now only India can win.

Battle or war - we're losing even when we actually string 3 good days together we find a way to be embarrassing.

This test side is terrible - no way around it.

Lets not even play the Ashes its too embarrassing.
