See if we can retain some consistency in the next one, with the batting and generally excellent bowling. Stuck at it well, last two days on a good batting track.

Conditions, conditions I know...but I don't like bowling first....it just means we have to bat last.
I'm not convinced there is enough in this pitch to not bat first. Maybe I'll be wrong.

Excellent start.
I must say though, I thought we must've lost the toss with them batting first.
Shows all I know.

Come on, that's soooo harsh to say Root put him down. Whoever's at second slip didn't even move and it was his as much as it was Root's.

Hope we have more of a contest than the last one. Walkovers don't have nearly the appeal of a fight to the finish. Was there ever much better than this?

Aye it was as much the combination that looked awful, one of you! But then on the replay it wobbled and swung really late. Still probs should've been taken between them but yeah, I wouldn't want to keep todayBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 2:23 pm

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
It moved late - I think slip fielding is tough today with the ball moving late. I don't particularly blame Root - one of those that you'd say more often than not would be taken but then you'd say 'good catch Joe'.Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 2:29 pmAye it was as much the combination that looked awful, one of you! Oh I absolutely agree, Tango, and for purely selfish reasons - I'm at OT on the Saturday for what could well be the best day's cricket I've ever seenTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 2:27 pmHope we have more of a contest than the last one. Bloody hell. I've just had it pointed out to me that the Saturday's only Day Two. I'd assumed it was Day Three!Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 3:06 pmMy housemate has tickets for, I think, day 4. Can't see an issue with playing the final test in the series in September in Manchester tbf.

England have found their bowling discipline. Huge strings of maidens. That's the way here - line and length and patience.

127-7 is looking ominous for India. Pant getting slated for throwing his wicket away?
