Strictly Come Dancing final down to two couples due to injury. Same old popularity contest as ever. What's dance got to do with it?

Oh Jesus Christ! I've been doing a bit of digging into energy sources in the UK, now given all the green claptrap to be imposed by the ever moving xxx x time scale it would appear we are going to be up the proverbial. Nuclear power currently provides around 20% of our energy needs and there is a large £22 billion station under construction, great, more clean energy when the coal/gas fired stations close except... a large chunk of nuclear power stations are going to be shut down and decommissioned by the early 2030's. Rolls Royce are currently working on plans for 16 small fusion reactors each should be capable of powering a city the size of Sheffield these would comfortably fit in an area about the size of two football pitches, most parts will be factory manufactured to keep costs reasonable and would provide many jobs in the North.
Sounds good but Our good old pillocks in Greenpeace and friends of the earth object, apparently we should be investing even more in wind and solar power, proper, as the call it, renewables.
Now surfing around they never give any explanation as to what happens during dark winters when the wind don't blow.
I really am glad I am getting older the stupidity of these people beggers belief.

I note that this rule has been introduced by 'The Headmistress', not the gender neutral 'Head'.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 5:16 pmhttps://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/19 ... -girl-boy/

You may have been reading an earlier version of the article as it now reads "headteacher" on the one I've just read.
Anyway, I thought it rather generous to describe the school as being located in Harwoood. Rather generous indeed.

Narr then, Morag works there and she tells me that the head is actually referred to as 'Headteacher'. However, the offspring of Breightmet (for that is where it is and from whence its intake is from) do address Morag as 'Miss'.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 9:13 pmBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 6:27 pmI note that this rule has been introduced by 'The Headmistress', not the gender neutral 'Head'.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 5:16 pmhttps://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/19 ... -girl-boy/

Surely Head Boy-Head girl titles already introduce equality? (ambassadors) just has to create an imbalance however way you look at it? Even St Catherine, patron Saint of Librarians and Mathematicians can't alter that fact. The Headmistress,Headteacher sounds like a Role Reversal ambassador.

Some vitriolic stuff flying about in the comments section of the debate on return of the death penalty in the Bolton News... Not recommending joining in mind.

I'll go with Desmond Tutu on this, quote: . "If you take a life when a life has been taken, that's revenge, not justice." unquote.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 5:42 pmYeah, but absolute burden of proof, Brucie. We would kill anyone innocent without it.

Re: General Chit Chat
Thank The Lord for kids. Christmas has come and gone seeming the most flat and joyless ever in my lifetime. I have a few great grandchildren to spoil with a load of presents
(even some of my grandkids are grown and married now) but they get so much these days that you wonder if they truly appreciate any of it. We had a nice Christmas Day meal with one son and wife and an eighteen month old little treasure, and Christmas Eve we got visited by the parents and two others and a visit from another grandson and wife and two children, and two of my daughters. (One daughter and family are laid up with Covid). Add another granddaughter and a newborn three-month old great granddaughter,so it's been lively enough at times, but the whole thing has just flown past and done with so quickly it hardly registered..
It isn't a complaint, but I can't surely be the only one who thinks that Christmas is just a massive business orientated spendology (?)now rather than a celebration of historical and religious tradition. The cash till never stop ringing even on Christmas Day where once Church bells were the ones ringing glad tidings of comfort and joy.
Okay, that's it..Roll on Easter.

Yeah, we've got rid of all the boring, rubbish bits.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Nah, those old pagan worshippers were all about sex orgies and human sacrifice and stuff.. I wonder how history will view Christianity on the sex front? (I ask this as a Catholic), then of course there were the Crusades... lol.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 4:32 pmNah, those old pagan worshippers were all about sex orgies and human sacrifice and stuff..
