Corners in bold. Will have a look tomorrow. Currently playing crazy golf in Japan on the Oculus.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:48 pmAnything on his set piece delivery, DSB?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 8:50 pmUpdated Aaron Morley stats per 90 minutes, with divisional rankings among centre-mids and defensive centre-mids with at least 5 apps:
1st for key passes (ie chance-creation) with 2.6 per game
4th for total passes attempted per game (56.7)
5th for accurate long passes (4.6),
10th for accurate short passes (37.7)
2nd for completed crosses (1.8 )
5th for completed corners (1.4)
And for the record, he and MJ started 22 Rochdale games together, including two wins against us: their 5-2 League Cup shellacking of our sorry arses at Spotland and the subsequent 3-1 win at the UniBok (although MJ was subbed on the hour when we were winning 1-0…)

Sorry, I was asking about more detailed stats. Zones hit, successes per zone etc Would be interesting to know how much we can read into what he did for Rochdale vs how we (totally cock up) take set pieces.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 10:51 pmCorners in bold. Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
WhoScored doesn't go that deep. Does however pony up that he's averaged 1.3 accurate free-kicks per 90 minutes, which is 14th among that cohort (L2 MC/DMCs with 5+ games).GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 11:02 pmSorry, I was asking about more detailed stats. Also perhaps worth noting that while by that rationale and among that cohort he’s the fifth-best corner taker, his team-mate Liam Kelly is by faaaaar the best (averaging 2.7 accurate corners per 90, almost twice the second-best 1.5). Adding in all positions, he’s the 15th best L2 corner taker (5+ games).

So what your saying DSB, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that he's basically Karl Henry.

Even better than that, he’s like Darren Pratley without wearing each boot on the wrong foot.
Twitterati saying Dale have accepted two bids - us and Preston. Interesting. We should play up the Straight In The Team aspect….

Is such quality even physically possible? *hushed gasps of awe*Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 12:00 amEven better than that, he’s like Darren Pratley without wearing each boot on the wrong foot.
That would not be good. Preston seems an easy choice. Not seen anything about them myself, but haven't been looking.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 12:00 amTwitterati saying Dale have accepted two bids - us and Preston. Interesting. We should play up the Straight In The Team aspect….

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
I've emailed Claudio Gentile to see if he's interested in coming in on a 6 month contract. My Italian is a bit rusty, but hopefully he'll get back to me shortly. The League has approved letting him play on a Segway and use a polo mallet.

Well, we've never in our history had any decent L1 mf's.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 1:14 amI've emailed Claudio Gentile to see if he's interested in coming in on a 6 month contract. My recollections a bit dim, but I don't recall any of them living la dolce vita..

Preston under Ryan Lowe you would think shades it…
Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
If they would actually play him then yeah. Smaller club, but a division up and presumably higher wages.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
I think signing 21 year olds with potential is a good long term idea. And doing it now makes sense in the context of building.
But we also have to consider we sit three points off the drop zone with no midfield really as things stand and perhaps Morley is the man to lift us but it strikes me as alongside him we’d need a couple of more established midfield players coming in.
I refer back to Stuart Broad re the ashes. Looking to the future is critical but mustn’t be at the expense of the present.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
Quite right, and if evatt gets this wrong we really could go down. We could easily be in the relegation zone by the end of Jan, because the next 3 home games are all against strong sides, and away games seem to be a write off at the moment.
Just have to hope they get new signings bedded in to pick up points against the weaker teams we play in the subsequent months.
I still don't think we'll go down, but an underwhelming window will tip me over the edge!

People on Twitter are saying this lad Morley was in our academy as a youngster - can anyone verify?

2016, Bury Times:
Aaron has just signed a two-year scholarship with Rochdale having already featured as a regular with their under-18s team. He has previously played for the Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers academies.
Meanwhile: Liam Edwards to stay at Southport for the rest of his contract.

Similarly Twitter have him as being a Bolton fan. Wonder how much of a difference that generally makes to players.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
On the basis that I'd never heard of him until the other day I'd be happy. CM is clearly the biggest priority and if they're spending money there they recognise that. After that we've just got to wait and see with fingers crossed.
