He was also at Chesterfield for a few years (2013-2016) so must have played a fair number of games with Evatt.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:23 amA few things in favour of the Gnanduillet possibility. He's out of contract in summer and Hearts are happy to let him go - loan or permanent, they don't care. He's done well in Lancashire before. And he's also, according to Wikipedia, 6 ft 40 in, so he's a hell of a target.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:10 amGnanduillet maybe lacks the pace Evatt wants in the role, but has a scoring history at this level.
It's who would be worth a proper contract, rather than trying the wider summer market. Bodvarsson at least lets us have a look at him and then go again in the summer. Maybe Hearts would loan Gnanduillet, I don't know.
Salford have been linked, and they're managed by his old Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer. But they're fourth division. Gnanduillet also turns 30 next month, so personally I'd prefer a loan than a permanent, but with plenty of clubs after him, one or two may offer an 18-month contract.

He was on nearly 50k, factoring in bonuses, at West Ham.

Update from the pulled-out-of-my-arse department:BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:09 amMight need to look at league one or two options out of contract in the summer we could get for lower fees I guess.
Quick Transfermarkt trawl for third-tier strikers 180cm (5ft 11in) or taller, who are out of contract this summer. Really not a lot coming up that would be easily available - remember these are divisional rivals.
Mikael Mandron - who scored twice against us in Evatt's first ever game - is coming to the end of his Crewe contract, but he's been playing regularly so it's a "Dempsey" situation. Wigan were linked earlier this month but they've just signed Magennis.
Colby Bishop (Accy) has been mentioned but they got us to pay £300k for a striker they didn't want - imagine how much they'd ask for a regular.
Omar Bogle is still at Donny - got an assist v Wigan this weekend.
Kayden Jackson (ex-Accy) isn't playing much for Ipswich. Can also play wide right.
Imagine the ones I haven't mentioned.

They're a very, very well run club with excellent recruitment.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:52 amDecent Romanian journalist. Farewell Dennis and good luck elsewhere.
Best of luck to the young man, if true. If he's playing in Serie A within two years Evatt will get slaughtered.

50 grand is the reported fee for Dennis. Better than nothing, I suppose..but not by much.
Still, maybe we can swing the Dempsey or Bodvarsson deals with it.

Aye, guess we could either add it to the Dempsey fee or offer to pay £2kpw more of Bodvarsson's wages.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 12:13 pm50 grand is the reported fee for Dennis. Better than nothing, I suppose..but not by much.

Hard not to be a little disappointed by this. Hopefully the decision doesn’t come back to bite us.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:52 amDecent Romanian journalist. Farewell Dennis and good luck elsewhere.
Any chance of us having a sell on fee/clause, or is that extremely unlikely?

Not sure anyone got too slaughtered when Dzemaili went to Torino...I suspect because he wasn't playing first team football. Then again neither's Politic (for us)...I'm sure some will remember, though...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:56 amBest of luck to the young man, if true. We offered Politic a contract, he refused and went elsewhere. End of story for me. Good luck to him and all that but I won't be losing any sleep over it.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
Had a quick look for lapsing (5ft 11+) striker contracts in the Champo and there's not a lot we don't already know about.
What I did notice this time is Tyreece John-Jules (Blackpool, loaned from Arsenal) - hasn't been in the matchday squad since October (and Blackpool have just signed Jake Beesley) so Arsenal have been considering whether to recall him. Decent impact at third-tier Donny last season - 5 goals and 3 assists in just 235 minutes (over 18 appearances) is a goal involvement every 29 minutes. Strong and quick, can shoot with either foot. Tango will remember his uncle Danny from Strictly 2018 (I remember him from Red Dwarf).
I imagine we have backup targets beyond Bod but I'm starting to wonder if attack-bolstering might be back to borrowing promising youngsters again.
