Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!
We know for a fact that FV aren’t here to bankroll us. So I doubt continued losses can be tolerated. Perhaps they can secure further investment. But I do think that we need to not be naive to the business reality.
And you don’t know that the January spend wasn’t in the knowledge of a likely sale this summer. It’s still a business. It’s still not owned by someone with more money than sense. At some point it needs to be self sufficient and I can’t see that happening this year and therefore the only sustainable business model has to be based on selling players.
Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!
Sure, and that's why I think he'll go if we get a good offer. My point is just that I don't think they'll be bounced into selling him under our valuation.
Santos on the other hand, if he doesn't sign a contract I think he'll be off.

I replied to that tweet yesterday - Delph went from League 1 for £8.5m and Lookman left Charlton for close to £11m - Whilst I would never expect to pull a number like those, we're in a much better position than the likes of Accrington, Posh, Oxford etc, by account of having much higher sponsorship, season ticket and match day revenue than those clubsAbdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 7:55 pmSome of those deals we're 5/6 years ago as well, so not sure how instructive they are. It will come down to how much a club wants him. I mean, we got 6m for Machine...

Is Evatt usually quick out with his Release/Retain list?

Aye. Just had a look.
The season finished at Crawley on 8/5, and we published the list on 19/5.

He's already said he wants to have most/all new faces in place by 19/6, so it wouldn't astonish me if we're quicker off the mark this time.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 12:26 pmAye. Just had a look.

Might also be an easier choice. I'd be very surprised if anyone more senior than Senior gets extended.

Some clubs release their retained list the week after the last game of the season, it wouldn’t surprise me if we’re one of those clubs.
We’ve known for a few weeks now that we’ll be in this division again next season so they’ll know who’s staying and who they want to move on.

Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!
Some more centre-back names, stabs in the dark, whatever. Had a look at players from up the league on loan in D4 who might take the next step up, although one other possibility popped up on the way.
DYNEL SIMEU (Southampton, 13.3.02)
Cameroon-born, Southampton-raised, played local-league football (often in midfield) until Chelsea Academy snapped him up, He made his U18 debut at 15 ended up captaining their U23s in Premier League 2. But despite being on the bench at Bayern he felt his first-team path was blocked so switch to hometown Southampton in summer 2021 for £1.3m. Loaned to Carlisle in January and after a wobbly start under soon-to-be-hoofed Keith Millen, but under Paul Simpson has been playing on the right of Carlisle’s back three. A strong, aggressive leader and keen to fit in - he has a good rapport with the fans and has been quick to do community stuff like school visits - he has been collecting man of the match awards. Saints, who hold his contract to 2024, might want to test him at the next level up, and he’s underage for the next two seasons.
TYLER MAGLOIRE (Blackburn, 21.12.98)
Very fast – like 10.6 m/s fast – if not perhaps the strongest. Was on loan at Northampton, but suffered shoulder injury. Out of contract in summer and likely to leave. Might fancy us but would we fancy him?
RYAN NYAMBE (Blackburn, 4.12.97)
Not currently playing his trade in D4, admittedly, but I happened across him while checking out Magloire. Blackburn contract expires in summer and it looks like he’s leaving, after 150+ tier-2 games (plus a tier-3 promotion) with ‘em. Primarily a right-back, but has played centre-back (his a six-footer) and right midfield. As ever, may not want to drop a division.
JERIEL DORSETT (Reading, 4.5.02)
6ft 1 left-sided centre-back from Reading (decent academy, car-crash club). Still in his teens till next week, he’s been on loan this season up the road at Rochdale, where he didn’t miss a league game between Halloween and mid-April and was Player of the Month for March. Seems to be out of contract in summer, will still be underage next season (and the one after it) and might fancy getting out of Reading, although they would be due a fee if he refuses a contract.

Hadn't seen he'd picked up another knock, but he's a terrific lad. Easy to coach, a born athlete and very smooth on the ball.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 10:18 pmTYLER MAGLOIRE (Blackburn, 21.12.98)

I'm not saying we should sign him, or that he's League One level (I can't recall seeing more than a couple of games of his since youth level); but I'd be delighted to see him at Bolton if the staff rate him.
He's another who has had injury issues. In his case due to the speed of his physical development and the fact he's so often utilised for his sprinting ability.
If he's developed as was hoped he'd be a lovely addition on the right side of the three or at right back.

Sounds an interesting physical prospect, but he's 23 and has played like 40 times at senior level. That statistic would suggest to me he's either very injury-prone or not very good.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 10:48 pmHadn't seen he'd picked up another knock, but he's a terrific lad. He'd be daft to leave here for there. And I say that (I think) more with intellect than emotion. I don't mind them personally but they've had three top-flight seasons since Euro 96, they desperately need a new stadium they can't afford, they've rattled through managers and they're more 'famous' than they should be because Loftus Road is always used for filming (blame the BBC, formerly nearby).brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:52 amI saw Evatt mentioned as a possible candidate for the job on Twitter yesterday…Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:15 amMark Warburton is leaving QPR in summer. Evatt is obviously an ambitious man and he will idly wonder where his next job might be, but he's also aware he's got a good reputation and a very good board here. If I were he, QPR would be among the bottom four or five Champo jobs I'd consider.
For us, Warburton leaving means a top-heavy squad will get yet more input, so while there may be a short delay while the new manager decides what he wants (Dominic Ball? Conor Masterson?), there will then likely be an exodus. Unless the backroom boys - Sir Les and so on - do it for him first...

Oh for sure. Wonder if he'd fancy the B team, chance to prove himself and rise to the A?The_Gun wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:09 amSounds an interesting physical prospect, but he's 23 and has played like 40 times at senior level. Aye, the loyalty shown to him by the owners here during the tough times last season also won’t harm our chances of keeping him.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:47 amHe'd be daft to leave here for there. He’s got a smart, reasonable and patient board and a good setup here. He’s no mug, he’ll realise he’s unlikely to have that at too many Championship clubs.
He will be attracting interest though after two automatic promotions and a 70+ point season in his first three years of full time management. Let’s hope we progress to the Championship with him soon
