He was way above our level and the level of anyone else in this squad.
Basically Jesus.

Fossey isn’t one to break the bank for given his injury record, so if he ends up in the Championship then no tears shed. Hopefully we’ve got some nice alternatives lined up.
Yep we are definitely going to be signing a championship level wing back if Fossey doesn’t sign…honestly his signing was a risk but anyone else we get will be worse and potentially completely break the point of a 3 at the back system.

He was unique in his abilities for the level we are at.
Fossey probably is a Championship level wing back, but I think you’re in danger of overrating him. Also, without wanting to be cruel, he’s potentially a permacrock. I’d be happy to get him back, but only for a modest fee, so if multiple Championship teams are getting involved and a bidding war is developing then we should definitely step back.
In danger of overrating him? He was way above our level and the level of anyone else in this squad. Our only hope of getting him back is the fact he’s a risk injury wise. Otherwise no player at his level would be down here.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one, pal. Good luck to Marlon if he signs elsewhere (apart from Wigan), but Bolton will be fine without him.

I humbly submit that we would be better with him

I know its mentioned on the pessimist thread but Luca Connell released by celtic. That lad has had some bad advisors , Hope he gets his career back on track.

I’m confident we’ll be good with or without Fossey. Plenty of time left in the transfer window and plenty of good players available.

Looked an excellent prospect when he was here - probably the best we’ve produced since Clough. Can’t blame him for moving when he did, but clearly didn’t work out for him at Celtic. Hope he gets fixed up soon.

I'd be glad to see him back. Problem is it's hard to gauge how good he actually was. Our squad was pretty dire the season he shone through so trying to determine how good he actually is would be difficult.

Still, his experience would be helpful for bringing through youngsters and from past experience he looked capable of making a step up so I think it would be a good move to check him out and a nice platform for him to restart his career.

Luca is good enough to play in League One. If we were to bring him back I'd be fine with it.

Well Queens Park's manager is Owen Coyle. If he's gauged that he's not good enough then we should definitely be taking a punt.

Owen played him, which is obviously concerning. However, I feel we can overlook that based on the fact Owen also picked out Holden in a similar role.

Clough. Look what’s happened to him. Enough said. Prospects that don’t have what it takes.

Connell was two years younger than Clough was when he made his debut and I thought he was further ahead in his development even at such a young age.

He seemed to have a rather high opinion of himself, though. It's possible his career trajectory since might've brought him down a peg, but - and without even getting into whether I'd want him to come back here - if it hasn't I doubt his ego would entertain the idea of returning.

Connell's attitude issue probably came from being so much better than everyone else in our system. I don't think he's completely over it, given some of the stuff coming from QP fans; but I'm not completely against arrogance in a player if they back it up and Connell did whilst on loan.

Ultimately, he has the ability for at least League One. If Evatt and Markham want him then I'd expect him to be decent. If they don't that's fine too. Ability isn't everything. A player has to fit.

There's a romance to the idea of having Luca and Morley in the middle, pulling the strings. You don't build a squad based on romance, though.

We sold Clough for £3m. I’d be very happy to produce a few more like him.

Precisely. Forest cocked up a lot of good prospects over that period. He played well for us and then made good money. Some people love to moan.

Everyone would. We just don’t need to be signing these players who we’ve conned clubs over already. Clough was great business as he was never worth that sort of money and I don’t know what we got for Luca but it was probably too much for a kid who had kicked a ball half a dozen times.

Nixon is linking Derby and Bolton to James Collins at Cardiff. Proper centre forward at this level. Scores a variety of goals, bullies defenders and generally is a menace. It's Nixon, so make of that what you will; but at this level the lad is a player. 1 in 3 in the Championship and 1 in 2 at this level. Also tends to pop up with a few assists, but it's a case of lay-offs rather than playmaking type stuff. Very much a League One Alan Shearer type, which should please a few.
